five and a-half lengths was Run in a Record Time of 2 Minutes and 30.5
seconds.
The giant-striding son of Razeen justified his on-money favouritism
by unleashing an electrifying turn of foot in the straight which made
his 11 rivals look pedestrian. For Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy it was another
memorable Indian Derby Triumph as he had earlier won the most prestigious
Race of the Indian Turf in his Racing Colours with his classy filly
Amazing BAY in 1996.
STAR SUPREME's Scintillating Performance shattered the earlier record
time which was jointly held by Cordon Bleu and Elusive Pimpernel who
had stopped the clock at 2 Minutes 30.7 seconds.
For the Usha Stud Farm who Bred STAR SUPREME, it was their eighth Indian
Derby Victory - a Record till 1998 for any Stud Farm in India.
