Alma a filly with a great heart has shown her superior class and tremendous turn of foot to show grounds to one of the most competitive classic races ever framed, at least in last 4-5 years from the time I fell in love with horses and got into racing...the last I could recall is Becket-Jacqueline fight.
After watching the powerful winning gallop of cardinal, I was sure that he will finish this season unbeaten as there is no second colt in the newer bunch who could match strides with him, he was unfortunate to loose his last outing as he went lame ....I see no match for cardinal on 18th Jan 2011 in 2000 guineas at mahalakshmi racecourse.
I still see him 4 clear lengths better than all After Cardinal, Alma Matar is the only filly which could excite me and caught my eyes, and after an effortless Debut the filly had shown tremendous maturity in her run which was surprising seeing her debut. I could recall Diego Rivera, Set-alight and the giant strides of Jacqueline, to name a few who are known for their final gallop and the giant strides.
I anticipate Alma Matar to improve further and do well in longer distances say 12 to 16 furlong would be the best distance for this well bred stayer...she goes stronger with distance ...more she runs better she goes for this season and for the coming ones I wish to see both cardinal and Alma mater unbeaten and wish they set-up new standards and benchmark to the racing industry Pedalo, is the third one I love from Hyderabad, who I see unbeaten till end of the season and belong to the same league of Cardinal and Alma Mater wish to see these 3 shining stars doing well in future. Thanks I am a very passionate horse lover and always look for the quality and class, this season is been bombarded with classic hopes and all are doing well BUT the first one feel for was cardinal and i expect him to be the best colt in the category , this strong bred should amend everything he goes on filed.
