Six Horse have a Chance of Winning the PRA Independence Million
Six Horses have a chance of winning the PRA Independence Million
Pune: As many as 15 horses, will be vying for supreme honours in the PRA
INDEPENDENCE MILLION. Needless to say, that winner finding in this wide
open and competitive race is a difficult task Be that as it may I feel
that 6 horses have a good chance in the race. Nonetheless, a rank
outsider may well win at long odds and send some of the race goers into
an awesome tizzy and others into a sense of great exultation. The 6 well
bred horses with a good chance are concisely deliberated hereinafter:-
Titian (Ikhtyar-Innara) 4yo gelding. He is sparingly raced and has won
once and finished 2nd out of 4 starts. Plus, he has the advantage of a
1200M race in the ongoing Pune Season where he finished 5th to the
classy Dovers Hill after getting a slow start.
His ‘Sire’ Ikhtyar won 2 races in England at 3 (1700m and 200m).So,
Titian should fight it out for prime honors as he is now very fit.
Star Builder (China Visit-Magic Fountain) 4yo bay gelding. This sturdy
son of the champion ‘sire’ China Visit has won once and placed 4 times
in his career. His ‘dam’ Magic Fountain won thrice and was the dam of
the filly Magic Touch by Razeen, who won 6 races. His recent prep work
has been good and he is endowed with the stamina to get the 2000M trip.
Therefore, Star Builder should run a very commendable race.
Ashwa Parwez ( Razeen-Ladybank) 4yo bay gelding. He is a robust and
athletically built son of the late stupendous ‘sire’ Razeen and his
‘dam’ Ladybank won 3 races and the latter’s grand dam Oiseau De Guerre
(USA) won 2 races at 2 and 3 and was the dam of 6 good winners. Ashwa
Purvez has worked well and has performed fairly well in a 1200M mock
race on 28th July 2011 and since he has stylishly won a 2000M race in
Mumbai 2010-11, his chances now look bright in this highly competitive
race.
Cogito Ergo Sum (Key of Luck-High Shaan) 4yofilly. She is a bred in the
purple filly who has won only once but very authoritatively carrying
60Kg over 2000M in Mumbai 2010-2011. Her ‘sire’ Key of Luck is by
Chief’s Crown out of Balbonella and Chief’s Crown has won 6 races incl.
the 1993 Prix Darenberg, Gr.3 over 1000M and the 1996 2000M Dubai Duty
Free Stakes. Plus, her ‘dam’ High Shaan (GB) won 2 races at 2 and 3 and
her dam’s tail line is a strong one. So, Cogito Ergo Sum could emerge
victorious.
POUND FOOLISH (Kalanisi–Moneypenny)5yo mare. She is a blue-blooded
filly, whose ‘Sire’ Kalanisi is a son of Doyoun who was a son of the
great Mill Reef. Although, her ‘dam’ Moneypenny did not race, her grand
dam Friendly Finance was the dam of six winner’s incl. Kei Woman, 2 wins
in Japan at 2 and 3 and Iris Japonica, 3 wins in Japan. Plus, her dam’s
tail line is very strong as it goes down to the likes of the great
River Lady who was the dam of 7 classy winners. So, although Pound
Foolish has won only twice and placed 8 times in her career, she has
lost to good horses and since her prep work has been superb, Pound
Foolish is now definitely a strong contender.
Tara (Royal Kingdom-Kojagiri) 5yo mare. She is very well prepared under
the skilful tutelage of Magan Singh Jodha and since she is very fit
commensurate with the fact that her handicap has come down to 52-1/2 Kg,
The stamina packed Tara could now be a winner.
