Trainer J Sharavanan leading Vigoroso (R Vaibhav Up), winner of The Tranquility Cup
Vigoroso (Young Senor-Alero) from the yard of J.Sharavanan picked up momentum when it mattered most, to lift the Tranquility Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses rated 60 and above. Alizadeh set out in front, cutting a fast pace and brought the field well into the final straight. Own Way tried to bridge the gap but didn’t look to be having enough in the tank to move past. Lake Emerald in the meanwhile emerged on the scene and surged ahead 150 metres from home but was unable to complete the mission as Vigoroso came with a resolute gallop to beat them all. The race favourite Demanding Format was never in the hunt till the last 200 metres and suddenly appeared on the scene, to finish third. The manner in which the rider assisted Demanding Format looked unconvincing and has been pulled up by the Stipes for more explanation.
Trainer C.Girinath had a fruitful day, scoring a hat-trick through Maximum City, Pearl of Bangalore and Bella Coola. The first and the last named who had shifted base from Hyderabad almost a year ago, made a turnaround in form to register their first success at this track. Both were ridden by apprentice S.Shiva Kumar. Maximum City Inner City-Classic Liason) won the Star Angel Plate. The 7 year old came in for some spirited betting towards race time closing as the second favourite. Racing with the bunch on the straight, Maximum City shot ahead 100 metres from home to pull off a successful gamble. Give Me The Money and Darling Dynamite finished second and third respectively in a close finish. Trafalgar Square was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.
Pearl Of Bangalore (Juniper-Pyjama Samba) lifted the Yamuna Plate beating stable companion Count Royal. Heartoftheocean was the one who went for it from the start and led till the last 300 metres. Pearl Of Bangalore and Count Royal made headway around the field to fight out the remaining part of the race. Count Royal looked to be travelling the better at one stage but surrendered his chances rather meekly to his barracks’ mate. An enquiry has been opened into the riding of Count Royal. Heart Of Success was withdrawn before the race.
Bella Coola (Royal Gladiator-Green Back) raised a sustained gallop on the home stretch to move ahead of the front running Surya Putra and score a win at longer odds, in the lower division of the Siachin Plate.
Zareer Darashah trained Del Gratia (Ontario-Miss Peregrine) was ridden to victory by S.John, in the higher division. Del Gratia improved inside the last furlong to take charge and win convincingly. Winning Tale warmed up late to take the second spot in front of Sun Device.
Ranjeet Shinde’s Super Sha (Inner City-Jugni), who had appeared on board in his previous four runs finally made it to the winner’s enclosure, winning the Charmudi Ghat Plate. Truthandfaith was in front and Super Sha ranged alongside as they traversed the final turn. On top of the straight, Super Sha surged ahead and stayed in front despite lugging out throughout the straight. Noble Sacrifice made a futile bid all through the last furlong but had to be content with the runner-up berth. Breezo took the third place ahead of Truthandfaith.
Dinesh Pujar trained Tusker (Ivory Touch-Ever Lasting Love) lifted the Nilgiris Plate, a five and a half furlongs dash for maiden 3 year olds. Positioning close to the inner rails with the front bunch, Tusker moved ahead of the front running Golden Slipper and quickened well to register a win on debut. Midnight Cruze ran green when applied pressure and finished second, pushing back Golden Slipper.
Pratap Kamath’s Daring Dynamite (Midtown-Sea Spray) justified the favouritism in the Tuticorin Plate, the concluding race of the day with a start to finish attempt. The Gain started to get closer towards the finish but Daring Dynamite kicked on to stay comfortably in front. Youre Kisss’s Due and Sugar Gold were withdrawn.
