Miss Marine earned her second victory on Monday when she packed off the field in the Lt Col Govind Singhji Memorial Cup. The feature event of the day's programmed had thirteen horses to compete. Trainer Ishwar Singh Parmar, who saddled the victory, and jockey Chhotu Singh Jodha shared a brace each.
The daughter of Mull of Kintyre and Masawara moved up to the front after breaking out quickly over the six furlongs' trip. Shaaranga, Master Sensation and Tiny Temper, who were running close to her, were unable to cope up with the pace after entering into the homestretch. She will be the strong contender for the Delhi Race Club Managing Committee Juvenile Sprinters Cup scheduled for the next month. The favourite Shaaranga faded badly as Master Sensation occupied the runner-up berth ahead of Tiny Temper. Debutant Sadajit finished being an impressive fifth.
Aleem Khan's Zoombastic brought the curtain up by scoring over Fanaa in the senior division of the Reasonable Plate. A heavily supported Pretty Good looked dictating the proceedings before being flanked by Happygolucky and Splendid Man. The duo later showed no resistance. The run may help Fanaa to earn a bracket soon.
Assertive made amends in the lower division of the Reasonable Plate. The Ishwar Singh Parmar's trainee, who had earlier finished second to Ashwa Parinda before meeting with severe interference at jump, settled back behind the leader Perfect Affect till the top of the homestretch. When he looked all set to go for a kill, Sunrise tried to engage him in fight. The public fancied loser had a crucial start after losing valuable ground and was later ridden out suspiciously.
Varun met with success when gutting out a narrow victory over whistling Warrior in the senior division of the Thaumaturk Plate. Running close on the heels of the Whistling Warrior after coming out of the block, Roopendra Singh Shekhawat-owned and trained eight year old horse foiled the start-to-finish bid of the latter. The run certainly boost the moral of Whistling Warrior, who had not been able to be on the board till this outing. Far Superior never looked serious in the business and finished third ahead of Gold Mine.
Master Right proved to be too good in the lower division of the event. Late Ashwa Panchhi, who routed Heavenly Angel, should complete a double. Indian Bride and Neko were faraway third and fourth respectively.
Zulfiqar Khan-saddled Bacha Quero, who had run fourth to Ouef Toba in its last essay, trounced Rawsom in the Jai Govind Stud Plate, which was the concluding event of the day. The run of Zabardast, Movie Queen and Kohinoor Empire, who ran fourth, fifth and sixth respectively behind Jovial, was eye catching.
