Frankel

Frankel displayed tremendous acceleration when the 4 year old shot ahead to win the G1 JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury, to make it a perfect ten. Frankel was on his first run as an older horse and the world waited anxiously to see if he would keep his unbeaten record. The son of Galileo who has been unbeaten in all his nine starts earlier won his tenth title in style.

The 2-7 favourite raced keenly, tracking the leader till the last two furlongs and when the rider Tom Queally asked for an effort, Frankel showed tremendous turn of foot and left the field cold. Excelebration was always racing close behind Frankel throughout but was no match for the eventual champion when the race got to a boil inside the last two furlongs. Dubawi Gold finished third.

An elated  Sir Henry Cecil who trains Frankel said "It hasn't been straightforward as he had ten days off,  it's not been easy but we've got him through it and he's done exactly what I wanted him to do"

"It's a great relief he's come back - I know he had a little scare a while back. It's great for everyone - he belongs to racing," said the  rider Tom Queally. "He showed that burst of acceleration and he's not like anything I've sat on. He's grown up, he's a thicker set - look at him now he's the real deal."
