Galileo’s Nathaniel captured the G1 Coral Eclipse in a thrilling finish from the 11-4 favourite Farhh at Sandown race track. The hero of the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes squeezed out the reserves from his stamina when it mattered most to come out triumphs on rain softened ground.
Jockey William Buick settled Nathaniel in second behind the leader ity Style and went that way till the last three furlongs, while Frankie Dettori preferred to hold up Farhh towards the rear. Nathaniel passed the weakening City Style turning for home and was driven out by Buick. Dettori improved Farhh from the rear and loomed up alongside Nathaniel inside the final furlong. A stirring duel ensued thereafter and John Gosden trained Natheniel pulled off a sensational half length victory.
"This was a fantastic training performance by John Gosden, and all credit to him for getting him here in this shape," said the winning jockey Buick ,"he's got real quality and showed today what a good horse he is."
