John Gosden and William Buick added another big win to their growing list on Sunday, when they triumphed through Great Heavens in the G1 Darley Irish Oaks at Curragh. Breaking well from the gates, Great Heavens was settled in third throughout the early stages and fell back to fifth after being hampered for a clear run at the top of the straight. Buick switched her left with 1 ½ left and the daughter of Galileo accelerated strongly to draw clear of Shirocco Star by three lengths at the finish. Princess Highway who was held up in the rear improved to be third.
"She got boxed in and it was never the intention to stay on the inside but that's how things panned out," said trainer Gosden. "I thought two furlongs out she couldn’t' win, but she answered a big question in the last furlong and showed her class. We'll freshen her up and the Yorkshire Oaks is a possibility and we'll enter her in the St Leger."
