INCIDENTS :
It was reported after the race that RIDGEWAY (Suraj Narredu) burst its blood vessels. Trainer Mr. Arjun Mangalorkar was informed that he must produce a Fitness Certificate from the Club's Veterinary Officer before accepting with it again.
Jockey M.A. Gallagher, the rider of VEYRON, reported that his mount stopped galloping in the final 100 Metres. The horse was impounded for veterinary examination and no abnormality was reported. However trainer Mr. V.Lokanath Gowda (deputizing for trainer Mr. J.S. Dhariwal) was informed to take appropriate remedial measures before accepting with it again.
Trainer Mr.Nosher Cama and Jockey Neeraj Rawal were questioned regarding the running and riding of ST CATZ in the above race. The trainer stated that (a) he had instructed the rider to preferably ride from off the pace and do his best in the straight; (b) his charge was running over a mile for the first time; (c) he had observed that his charge was very keen from the 1400 Metres till about the 800 Metres, the rider having difficulty in settling his mount; (d) it was however for the rider who after considering the circumstances of the race had to make his own judgement; (e) the rider had ridden out fully in the straight and even passed the ultimate winner approaching the 150 Metres which again came on a re-run and won the race narrowly; and (f) under these circumstances he could not take an exception to his riding. The Jockey while corroborating the statement of the trainer as regards running of the race added that if he had allowed his mount to go front when it was too keen, it would not have finished even 2nd. Their explanations were noted.
Compulsory Samples were taken for analysis from the following I, II and III placed horses viz.:
