The race card on Monday the 12th of November was a drab one with four of the seven races being for horses in the lowest class -- category 3! The lowest class does not usually provide the most exciting racing.
A very large percentage of horses are rated in this class. The policy makers of Hyderabad Race Club need to look into this uneven distribution of horses as fields in the higher classes are bound to be affected.
The main event was The P. Veereshwar Rao Memorial Cup, ran over 2,200 metres. This was easily won by the front-running Orochi. Suraj Narredu made all the running on this China Visit Colt, to easily win by 8 lengths from PortPatrick. Orochi had earlier ran 3rd in the Deccan Derby.
The Youngster race saw Lady Patrica win in the sporting colours of Col. S.B. Nair. This filly ran helter skelter but put her head down in the last furlong to gallop smartly and win. She was ridden by K. Chary and trained by Mr S.A. Abbas. An impressive debut for Lady Patrica, who will come on a ton for this racecourse.
