ALLAIRE
PIPS SIX SPEED IN A THRILLER
ALLAIRE's
exciting victory over Six Speed in the Kingfisher Bangalore
Derby on Sunday (July 16) continued the trend of sensational
finishes that the event has provided over the last decade. For
the second successive year, Pesi Shroff found himself on the
runner-up after having stolen a march over the rest but getting
caught at the wire. Though Six Speed lost, it was a great effort
on the part of the Placerville progeny and the jockey. Last
year, Smart Chieftan had won in similar fashion over Averoff
which was piloted by Shroff. More...

ALLIED
FORCES ASSERTS HIS CLASS;
SANS EGALE FADES OUT
DARIUS
BYRAMJI trained Allied Forces
highlighted the vast gulf that exists between the
horses of his generation and the next when he swamped the
opposition in the 2200 metres Maharaja's Cup (Grade III), the
feature event of the races held on Sunday (July 9).
Interestingly, the first four placed horses all belonged to
India's leading horse owner Deepak Khaitan. More...

BRED HORSES TO THE FORE; SIX SPEED,
ALLOCATED KEEP TRYST WITH DESTINY

JOE THE
PRO MAKES AMENDS IN
EXCITING FINISH
DARASHAH
trained Joe The Pro made amends for his failure last time out,
by winning the 1200 metres Chief Minister's Cup, a Grade III
event, which highlighted Sunday's races, in an exciting finish.
Also redeeming their reputation were Columbus who ran a close
second and Averoff who but for the rough passage she encountered
at a crucial stage of the race, could well have been the winner.More...

SIX
SPEED IS SENSATIONAL, ALLOCATED
IS ANOTHER STAR
Beer baron Vijay Mallya who
had a lean patch last year, is bound to sweep the classics all
over the country. Six Speed is a sensational horse, in the mould
of legends of Indian racing like Adler and Elusive Pimpernel and
infinitely superior to last year's horse of the year namely
Smart Chieftan. Mallya has yet another star in his yard in
Allocated who but for the presence of Six Speed would have
duplicated the feat of Smart Chieftan.More...

BOUNTIFUL
GESTURE IMPRESSES;
ALLAIRE FAILS TO SHOW OUT
QUITE
a few classic hopefuls were seen in action during the second
week's Bangalore Summer Races but none of them won in the manner
expected of them. Only Zareer Darashah trained Bountiful Gesture
who has made vast strides showed signs of becoming a top class
sprinter by the ease with which the Steinbeck filly won the
Karnataka Police Trophy, the highlight of the races held on
Sunday.More...

SURPRISES
GALORE DURING
FIRST WEEK-END
THERE
was a definite pattern in the results obtaining in the
first week-end Bangalore Summer Races. While favourites obliged
in the first four races on the opening day, rank outsiders in
the subsequent races took away the gains. The pattern continued
on Sunday too, with punters having mixed luck. The victory of
sank outsiders like Own Legacy, Admiral, Bank of Promise,
Pharoah resulted in the jackpot pools being carried over on both
the days. More...
