Rounding the final turn, Cromwell gave way to Rhapsidion Snow who surged
ahead and the only threat for the favourite came from Ashwaraaj who
improved places in the straight to essay his challenge on the wide
outside. However, Rhapsidion Snow had enough reserves to hold on to the
advantage while the consistent Ashwaraaj was a close second ahead of
Stone of Destiny. Khaleel's Pride who was expected to figure at the
finish was not well placed to make any impression.
Noble Prince recorded an encore in impressive fashion in the Beautiful
Babe Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 50. Vanquish appeared to have
gone into a very decisive lead at the top of the straight, with the top
weight having to cover ground on the front-runner but the big made son
of Placerville quickened very well to win comfortably. He spared over
two lengths at the finish while the third placed El Gordo was a distance
behind third.
Arjun Mangalorkar's Ace Act created a fine impression when making a
winning debut in the High Commission Trophy (Div II), a race for maiden
three-year olds. Ace Act who is a half sister to the well performed
Adolfito, hit the front from the word `go' and stretched away from
favourite Super Woman who was not going anywhere except ducking in.
Gobelin covered lot of ground to finish an impressive second. The winner
clocked a time of one minute 15.5 seconds which was faster than that
clocked by the winner of the upper division of the race. Sunny's
Symphony who had found one better on two occasions, this time barely
lasted out to win from a fast-finishing Enforcer in a timing of one
minute 16.42 seconds. Pricelessolitaire who came in for strong support,
had all the chances but could not quicken enough at a crucial stage of
the race.
Prasad Raju trained Flying Rudolph was backed to the exclusion of his
rivals in the 1200 metres Honeyday Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to
50. The favourite took a forward position from the start and went clear
of the field in the final furlong. However, Hynotiq finished with a
flourish to throw a scare to the supporters of the favourite but the
winning post came to the rescue of the favourirte. Excellent Speed was a
faraway third.
Star Team had impressed most in a mock race and the son of Alnasr
Alwasheek was not hard pressed to win by a widening margin of four
lengths. Snow Ranger came up with a good run to finish ahead of Flaming
Lamborghini. Our Little Savage and Mother's Pride ran below
expectations.
Olympic Wonder had lost a certain race last time out as apprentice
Himamshu was unable to correct the drift of the horse. However this time
out, Himamshu rode Olympic Wonder in check as Commander's Wish dictated
the proceedings. Inside the final furlong, Olympic Wonder picked up
speed and essayed a strong challenge to the front-runner and won with
something to spare. There was inspired support for Consort King but in
the absence of any racing form, he ended up a tame fourth.
