Machrihanish wins Squanderer Trophy 
without raising a sweat

Taken on a start to finish mission by jockey K. P. G. Appu, even-money favourite Machrihanish raised no sweat when winning the Squanderer Trophy quite effortlessly. The Bezan Chenoy-saddled chestnut won easing up with the nearest rival Run For Glory ending almost a distance away. Machrihanish is the property of Mr Dilip Thomas. Having piloted Laurels to a sensational win over Thunderlite, Appu completed a back-to-back double when he rode Machrihanish to victory. 

Self Styled, Frequency and Soviet Fire were the only three favourites to have obliged their supporters apart from Machrihanish. Thunderlite proved to be the biggest flop of day and had to taste defeat at the hands of Laurels who was available at 10 to 1 against in the betting ring. 

Jockey P. S. Chouhan rode a fine double in Shahandeh and Frequency, both saddled by lady trainer Arti Doctor.
