Soviet Fire rallies late to claim the Littleover Trophy

Veteran Janardhan-trained Soviet Fire rallied well in response to jockey P. S. Chouhan’s call and managed to collar Maratha Princess who was being hailed a winner of the Littleover Trophy close home. Star Alone languished far behind the leaders in the early stages of the race and was seen struggling to keep pace with them. Though he covered ground as the field started its climb down the hill, Star Alone was a spent force till then. The favourite ended a poor third. 

Punters had a good day as results were largely confined to form horses. Trainer Jaggy Dhariwal and jockey Pesi Shroff joined hands to boot home a winning double for Dr Vijay Mallya through Self Styled and Sanquirico. Jockey C. Rajendra added a winning brace to his season’s tally and the jockey’s championship of this season is virtually in his safekeeping. Rajendra was successful astride Heartbreaker and Afilado. Imtiaz Sait led in Afilado and is now trailing leader Dallas Todywalla by just two points. Dallas is heading the trainer’s championship tally with 23 points.
