CHEVALIER
COULD BE THE HORSE FOR THE INDIAN DERBY
Dr VIJAY MALLYA
has an ace up his sleeve for the Indian classics in winter. This
year, he has a string of top-class horses to take on the best in
the classics but the best horse in terms of achievements this
year has been Six Speed but unfortunately the talented filly is
suspect over trips beyond a mile. However, the dramatic
improvement shown by Chevalier who seems to relish every inch of
extended trips has given hopes that this year's Indian Derby
could well see Mallya horses dominating the show. More...

ELUSIVE
EMPEROR SMASHES THE OPPOSITION
PADMANABHAN
trained Elusive Emperor who seems to have struck a purple patch,
spread-eagled the opposition in the 1600 metres Chief Minister's
Gold Cup, the feature event of races held on Wednesday (October
11) at the expense of favourite and owner-mate Acrosto. Times
without number jockey Aslam Kader has found himself riding the
favourite which has lost to a owner-mate, more often to the
stablemate. This is being increasingly resented by race-goers
who see smothing more than what meets the eye. More...

CHEVALIER COMES INTO MYSORE DERBY RECKONING
DARIUS
BYRAMJI trained Athabasca's shock victory at the expense of
favourite and stablemate Activator in the 1800 metres The Hindu
Gold Trophy, a rich terms race for three-year olds which
highlighted the races held on Friday (October 6) did not go too
well with the race-goers if only because this has increasingly
becoming a trend with the horses from this reputed stable. More...

SCHOLAR STRIKES OLD FORM
ROBERT
FOLEY trained Imperial Scholar, the erstwhile South
India Derby winner and whose best was the fourth to Forest
Fantasy ahead of Star Supreme in the Classic Indian Turf
Invitation Cup at Hyderabad two years ago, finally struck form
after a series of indifferent performances at Mysore to win the
Governor's Gold Cup, a 2000 metres terms race for four year olds
and over, the feature event of the races held on Friday
(September 29). More...

ADAMILE
MAKES AMENDS IN MYSORE 2000 GUINEAS
DARIUS BYRAMJI trained Adamile who had failed as an overwhelming
favourite in the Mysore 1000 Guineas made amends in the
Bettagere Estates 2000 Guineas in convincing fashion on Saturday
(September 23) giving room for suspicision that her last run was
not true to merits and that her defeat at the hands of Starry
Scene had to be taken with a pinch of salt. More...

NATIVE
TACTICS JUST ABOUT LASTS OUT
Nothing can stop the Darius Byramji juggernaut. The young
trainer who is soon to be engaged to a Coorgie girl, is going
great guns, with his wards winning big races all over the
country. In keeping with the trend, Native Tactics completed her
fourth straight win when just about getting the measure of Mohan
Valavi's Sun Reality, in the 1600 metres Maharaja's Cup, a race
for horses rated 40 and above, which highlighted the races held
on Friday (September 15). More...

STARRY
SCENE COMES GOOD AT LAST
ROBERT FOLEY trained Starry
Scene brought off an upset in the Karnataka Racehorse owners
Association Measure 1000 Guineas, the first classic of the
season, held on Friday (September 8). Though Starry Scene won at
fancy odds at the expense of on-money favourite Adamile,
the win was not exactly out of turn. Starry Scene had the
credentials but the got-abroad filly was running below par
races. On this occasion, she ran true to her potential and
also showed a vast improvement vis-a-vis Bangalore Summer
Season form. More...

surfacing, form generally held good, with Wednesday's races

SHOWS TREMENDOUS IMPROVEMENT
