Vasant
Shinde being congratulated for his stupendous performances by the then Bangalore
Turf Club Chairman J B Mallaradhya.
A
memorable moment ... Vasanth walks with the saddle in the hand after a remarkable
feat of guiding Tiberio to victory, with saddle in one hand and reings in
the other. Helping to lead in the horse is owner Madhav Rao Scindia who incidentally
is the former External Affairs Minister of India.
Right
Ahead being led in by trainer Rashid Byramji and owners Mr and Mrs Sunit Khatau
Astride
Right Ahead who won the South Indian Guineas. Right Ahead was also a successful
stallion and produced speedy customers.
Shinde
steering Tiberio to an unbelievable win, with the saddle having slipped and
the jockey still driving out the horse to victory when most jockeys would have
given up hopes of staying in the saddle, leave alone winning. Year 1972.
Yet
another of those Shinde specials. Nine Carat comes down at the start of the
Kingfisher Bangalore Derby but Shinde did remarkably well to balance himself,
lift the horse and then ride out brilliantly. However, Nine Carat lost by a
whisker to Treasure Girl who is seen in the next stall.
