( Race No 1  of the day )

SCALE RAISED BY 0.5 KG.

Odds at race time: Horse Raddish 11/10, Paddington 4/1, Autumn Rose 9/2, Traditional Style and Shining Example 6/1, Amazing Look 7/1, and Art Of War 8/1.

At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal, PADDINGTON was examined by the Manager – Veterinary Services at the start and declared fit to race.

SHINING EXAMPLE (V Jaiswal) missed the jump.

The saddle used on HORSE RADDISH (App Riyaz Shaikh) slipped at the distance post, completely unbalancing the rider and thereafter dislodging him. Subsequent examination revealed that the equipment was well maintained, as such no action beyond noting the incident, was taken. Tr. J J Stephens was fined a sum of Rs. 500/- for this lapse and was advised to ensure that he takes corrective measures in future. The apprentice escaped unhurt.

Change of Equipment : FRAGRANT MEADOW BLK - 'OFF' -

Odds at race time : Arisaka 80/100, Durness 7/2, Fragrant Meadow 4/1, Vignet 6/1, Axminister, Memorable Verse and Personal Charm all at 10/1.

Durness took the early charge with Arisaka in close attendance followed by Vignet, Fragrant Meadow with the trio of Axminister, Memorable Verse and Personal Charm out of the reckoning. At the bend Arisaka took over the running and it was all over bar the shouting. Vignet rallied on to take the runner-up berth ahead of Fragrant Meadow with Durness a bad fourth.

At the request of Jockey Neeraj Rawal, ARISAKA was resaddled at the start.

PERSONAL CHARM (App Amandeep Singh) was difficult to load thereby delaying the start of the race.

AXMINSTER (App J Gurung) was slow off losing about a length. App J Gurung , the rider of AXMINSTER, was severely reprimanded to make greater efforts to ride out his mount to complete advantage in the final straight.

The explanation of App Md. Shabbani, the rider of MEMORABLE VERSE, that his mount was tending to lean on the railings in the initial stages of the race as such he could not ride out his mount, was noted. The apprentice was, however, informed that he was being given the benefit of doubt in this instance and was warned to ride out his mounts in the initial stages of race, more so in a sprint race.

Odds at race time: Alterity Evens, Elegant Road 4/1, Gallant Commander 5/1, Constant Wonder 8/1, Glenbervie, Mystro, Smart Falcon all at 10/s and over.

Constant Wonder showed early speed followed by Gallant Commander, Glenbervie, Alterity, Mystro, Elegant Road with Smart Falcon tailed off last. At the home turn Alterity was inching up towards the front runners and took charge below the distance post to retire a comfortable winner from the fast finishing Glenbervie, Gallant Commander, Constant Wonder with others far behind.

GLENBERVIE (App Sk. Israil) was slightly difficult to load thereby delaying the start of the race.

ELEGANT ROAD (App Arman Khan) was slow off losing about 3 to 4 lengths.

SMART FALCON (App Md. Shabbani) was observed to ease up from about the 700 metres and thereafter trotted past the winning post. On questioning, App Shabbani stated that his mount was wobbling at about the 700 metres and changing legs, thereafter he eased up his mount. The Manager – Veterinary Services was requested to examine the gelding and reported that he was trotting sound. Under the circumstances Tr. D M David has been advised to get the gelding further examined at a later stage and not to race till the conclusion of this season.

SCALE RAISED BY 1.5 KGS. - Change of Equipment : ELUSIVE FORTUNE BLK - 'ON' -

Odds at race time: Italian Affair 14/10, Betelgeuse 4/1, Elusive Fortune 5/1, Italian Glory 7/1, El Cid, and Asmodeus at 12/1.

Elusive Fortune took over the running as the field settle down with Italian Glory, Italian Affair, El Cid, Asmodeus and Betelgeuse in rear. At 1000 metres marker Asmodeus was pushed to hit the front followed by Elusive Fortune with the pair of Italian's keeping each other company followed by El Cid and Betelgeuse. At the home turn Elusive Fortune regained its lead to sail away for an effortless win over Italian Glory, Italian Affair with others not in the reckoning. 

EL CID (V Jaiswal) and ASMODEUS (Salim Khan) were slow off losing about two lengths each.

Change of Equipments : SYMPHATICO T.S. - 'ON' - ROCK SUPERSTAR XNB - 'ON' - Change of Ownership : ROCK SUPERSTAR

Odds at race time: Stride To Strike 3/1, Salinger 7/2, Eveready Sir 9/2, Symphatico and Summer Rose 6/1 with others at longer odds.

Rock Superstar and Schumacher were disputing for the early lead followed by Stride To Strike, Summer Rose, Eveready Sir, Symphatico, Salinger six horses wide with the others in the rear. At the 800 metres marker Stride To Strike had an slender lead over the field with Summer Rose gathering momentum on the outside. As heads turned for home Stride To Strike took charge along the rails with Summer Rose finishing fastest of  all to grab the honours by a short neck from Stride To Strike with the early leader Rock Superstar taking the third spot.

STRIDE TO STRIKE (Md. Islam) and CORVINO (Gajender Singh) reared up as the start was effected, losing about 2 lengths each.

PROSPECTIVE PRINCE (Brij Shaw) veered out onto the outer rails at about the 300 metres, finishing the course as such. The Manager – Veterinary Services reported that PROSPECTIVE PRINCE returned lame on his right fore. Tr. Rutherford Alford has been advised not to accept with his charge till certified fit by the Manager – Veterinary Services.

Jockey Gajender Singh, the rider of CORVINO, reported loss of whip at the distance post.

Jockey Md. Islam, the rider of STRIDE TO STRIKE and Jockey D Singh, the rider of SUMMER ROSE, were fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- each for excessive and improper use of the whip (1st offence respectively).

Odds at race time: Antonique 17/10, Sea Legend 4/1, Brillaint Victory 5/1, Saraah Alam and Sephora 6/1, Mystic Force 7/1, Chagall 8/1, West Coast Eagle, Zephyr and Sabre Knight at 15/1.

Chagall's front running tactics came to a nought near the winning post when Sea Legend, his constant chaser came with telling strides to nail him in the shadow of the winning post. West Coast Eagle who racing in mid-division came with a spirited run to take the third spot.

At the request of App Md. Shabbani, WEST COAST EAGLE was examined by the Manager – Veterinary Services at the start and thereafter declared fit to race.

App Md. Shabbani, the rider of WEST COAST EAGLE, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for shifting out approaching the 600 metres for no apparent reason, causing interference to ZEPHYR (D Singh) and SEPHORA (M F Ali Khan) on his outside.

Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys G S Shekhawat, S Dominto, App Vikas Tamang and App Md. Shabbani was carried out and found to be clear.

Additional Report. For failing to produce the registered racing colours in respect of his charge LIP GLOSS (V Jaiswal) in The Stringfellows Plate on Saturday, 29th March, 2008, Tr. J J Stephens was fined a sum of Rs. 250/-

On the morning of Friday, 4th April, 2008, EVEREADY SIR was examined by the Manager – Veterinary Services and found to be sound.
