Consequent to the delay in flight schedule from Bangalore, Jockey P S Chouhan was unable to fulfill his riding engagement in this race. As such, the Stewards permitted Tr. Patrick Quinn to substitute Jockey Md. Islam to ride his mount HYMN STAR.

The saddle used on GOING STARRY (Afzal Khan) broke on its way to the start when the mare played up and the stirrup iron gave away at about the 600 metres. As such, the mare was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders. As both the saddle and the stirrup iron snapped were in a serviceable condition, no action beyond noting the incident, was taken.

App Md. Shabbani, the rider of ISLAND WARRIOR, was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for failing to make any effort to improve his position from about the 1000 metres till into the straight and thereafter not riding out his mount to complete advantage in the final straight. The apprentice was further warned in the presence of his Master Mr. D M David and Mr. E Bhungard, the trainer of

ITALIAN STAR (P S Chouhan) veered out immediately after the start was effected, taking WAYWARD PRINCE (Arman Khan) out with him. Jockey P S Chouhan was severely reprimanded to be more careful in future.

The reins used on AROMATIQUE (C Alford) slipped out of the hands of Jockey C Alford momentarily in the final 150 metres which he was able to regain after a few strides. Jockey C Alford has been warned to be more careful in future.

The saddle used on LADY PEPPERONI (Gajender Singh) slipped on entering the final straight with the rider being dislodged. Tr. R Alford was fined a sum of Rs. 500/- for the lapse and was advised to be more careful in future. Jockey Gajender Singh is under observation.

The Sr. Veterinary Officer reported that GRACIAS SENORITA (Pawan Sharma) sustained a bleeding cut injury on her left fore fetlock joint.

TIME WARNER (Pawan Sharma) planted, dislodging the rider who was hurt and finished the course riderless. The Starting Stall Certificate of TIME WARNER has been revoked by the Starter.

Jockey Rajinder, the rider of APTITUDE, the winner, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive and improper use of the whip (1st offence).

ASMODEUS (App V Aharwal) was very troublesome to load and was slow, losing about a length.

CERTAIN SMILE (A Imran Khan) was slow off losing about a length.

Jockey N Akhtar, the rider of MASTER MARVEL, was severely reprimanded for dropping his hands before passing the winning post, though on a beaten horse.

BAKHTAWAR (App Sameer Khan) was observed to be hanging out for the greater part of the race with the rider having considerable difficulty to control the gelding. Tr. Shafiq Khan has been advised to take remedial measures in consultation with the Sr. Veterinary Officer before next accepting with it.

The Sr. Veterinary Officer reported that MATRIX (Md. Islam) returned with a clip injury on her left hind.

App Pintu Das, the rider of VRIKODARA, was reprimanded in the presence of his Master Mr. F A Rodrigues (Jr) for looking over his shoulder while rounding the bend for no apparent reason.

Jockey A Imran Khan, the rider of BEST OF THE BLUES, was severely reprimanded for dropping his hands before passing the winning post, though on a beaten horse.

ACTON TOWN (B Gurang) was slow off, losing losing about 4 to 5 lengths. Tr. D M David has been advised to show his charge to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race before next accepting with it.

GALLANT COMMANDER (V Jaiswal) and ROYAL DAZZLE (Afzal Khan) were slow off losing about 2 and 3 lengths respectively.

Jockeys B Gurang and V Jaiswal, the riders of ACTON TOWN and GALLANT COMMANDER, reported loss of whips at about the 400 and 300 metres respectively

Jockey S Rabbani, the rider of FOOT TAPPER, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for failing to ride out his mount to complete advantage in the final straight.

ADALIRA (Surender Singh) and MAN ABOUT TOWN (Shadab Khan) were troublesome to load.

EXCEL (D K Ashish) missed the jump.

An enquiry has been opened into the running and riding of ELEGANT ROAD, ridden by Jockey N Akhtar and trained by Mr. D M David.

G E N E R A L REPORT
1. Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Shadab Khan, V Jaiswal, Gajender Singh and App I Khan was carried out and found to be clear.

2. On the morning of Thursday, 17th July, 2008, the following horses were examined by the Sr. Veterinary Officer and reports submitted as under :-

LADY PEPPERONI - Lame on right fore.

BAKHTAWAR - Sharp molars (both side).

ELEGANT ROAD - Sharp molars (both side).

Tr. R W Alford has been advised not to accept with his charge LADY PEPPERONI till certified fit by the Sr. Veterinary Officer.
