Odds at race time: Black Hussar 5/2, Sharapova 13/4, Racing Chenab & Shaktiman 6-1.

Te Quiero led them all and won start to finish. Te Quiero led chased by Sharapova, Shaktiman, Racing Chenab, Latest News and Try Your Luck a bad last. Te Quiero had a useful lead of over two lengths as they pass the 300m and held on well from Black Hussar finishing on. Shaktiman and Try Your Luck filled the frame.
  
 

 
 
Race Reports

Jockey G.S.Shekhawat (RAGING CHENB) reported that his saddle had slipped back during the race. As such, Tr. Sangramsingh N. Joshi has been fined Rs.2000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

Trainer Rehanullah Khan was questioned regarding the improved performance of TE QUIERO in this race which she won as compared to her previous run in Race No.269. The Trainer stated that he was pleasantly surprised at the win. He had raced the mare after a gap of more than a month and she was fresh as compared to the two common horses LATEST NEWS and PHI and the mare was available at longer odds.

Jockey J. Pradeep (TRY YOUR LUCK) was observed to be feeble on his mount. Since the horse was found to be sore after the race, no action has been initiated against the Jockey. After the race, TRY YOUR LUCK was observed to be sore by the right fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

Race Commentary

Odds at race time: Solskjaer 17/10, Mustang Sally 7/2, Acceptance 6-1.

Classic Spirit led them all followed by Lady Trooper, Solskjaer, Zuetina and the rest. Classic Spirit brought them to view with two lengths lead over improving Solskjaer, Zuetina and the rest. Solskjaer took over the running under whip and stretched out very well for an impressive victory. Zuetina came up for second place ahead of tiring Classic Spirit. Acceptance ran on to finish fourth.
  
 

 
 
Race Reports

Soon after the start ZUETINA (Amyn Merchant) was hampered for clear run when LADY TROOPER (Nadeem Alam) shifted out due to the outward movement of CLASSIC SPIRIT (P Belose). Jockey P Belsoe has been cautioned for failing to exercise proper control over his mount.

Jockey C.S.Jodha (ARABIAN GUEST) has been fined Rs.5000/- for riding an incompetent race wherein he had made insufficient effort in the early part of the race and then travelled wide while negotiating the final bend for no reason and also kept an erratic course under the use of the whip losing ground in the process.

Jockey R.Parvesh (SOLSKJAER) has been fined Rs.1000/- for using his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount.

Soon after entering the home stretch, SOLSKJAER (R Parvesh) shifted in under use of the whip and forced LADY TROOPER (Nadeem Alam) to shift in and later took its running whereby Jockey Nadeem Alam was forced to change his course and make his bid.

Jockey R Parvesh has been fined Rs.2000/- for improper use of the whip.Jockey R Parvesh (SOLSKJAER) has been severely reprimanded for dropping his hands before passing the winning post.

Odds at race time: Covanant 3-1, Kings Desire 13/4, Generalissimo 4-1 & See The Truth 5-1.

Beyond Therapy set the pace followed by Covanant, Kings Desire with Generalissimo and See The Truth gracing the wrong end. Beyond Therapy led by two lengths as they pass the 400 with Covanant hard at work and so is Kings Desire. Generalissimo & See The Truth not making much impression. Under hard riding Beyond Therapy kicked on to win from Kings Desire taking the second place edging out Covanant.

COVENANT (Malcolm Kharadi) hung in during the race. Trainer Vinayak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.

Jockey S.P. Ranjane (BEYOND THERAPY) was observed to have used his whip in excess of the prescribed limit on his mount. Since this was the third occasion that he has breached the Calendar notification with respect to use of the whip, the matter was reported to the Stewards.

The Stewards decided to suspend the Jockey’s License of Mr.S.P.Ranjane w.e.f. 24th July 2008 to 25th July 2008. (Both days inclusive, permitted to ride work/ Mock race) for breach of the Calendar Notification RE. “Use of Whips.”

Odds at race time: Procyon 13/10, Mysterious Star & Spiritual Flame 7/2.

Mysterious Star hit the front closely followed by Procyon on the outside and three lengths behind Bonny Light, Morpheus, Spiritual Flame improving and the rest. Mysterious Star brought them to view with Procyon hard at work and not responding and Spiritual Flame coming up well under whip with Morpheus too making up good ground. Mysterious Star held on to the advantage to win in a close finish from Spiritual Flame. Morpheus finished third ahead of Bonny Light.

Race Commentary

Odds at race time: Romantic Impact 75/100, Highland Flame 4-1, rest 7-1 & over.

Romantic Impact jumped out smartly and led them all on a start to finish victory. Romantic Impact was followed by Highland Flame, Wild Torronaado, Zen, Dangerous Belle and the rest. Romantic Impact stretched out very well in the last 200 m to win convincingly from Zen & Wild Torronaado. John Cabot finished on for the fourth place. The other runners were outpaced.
  
 

 
 
Race Reports

HOLD THE THOUGHT (Aadesh Kumar) was slow in the stride, losing about a length at the start.

Soon after the start, FIRECRAKER (GS Shekhawat) shifted in and forced HIGHLAND FLAME (Neeraj Rawal) to shift in, who in turn shifted in and jostled with WILD TORRANAADO (C Alford), turning the latter sideways whereby Jockey C Alford had to take evasive action since ROMANYIC IMPACT (Nirmal Jodha) also shifted out at that stage. Jockey G.S. Shekhawat was reported to the Stewards for careless Riding.

The Stewards interviewed Jockey G.S.Shekhawat in the above connection and having heard him and after viewing the video recording of the race, were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by him and resolved to suspend his Jockey’s license w.e.f. 24th July, 2008 to 3rd August, 2008 (both days inclusive). (Permitted to ride work/mock race). Further, he was severely warned for the future.

Jockey Satish Nayak (FIRE QUEEN) reported loss of whip near 500 meters. This being the third time Jockey Satish Nayak lost his whip during the current Mumbai Meeting 2007/08, he has been fined Rs.3,000/- as per the Calendar Notification regarding loss of whips.

In the final stages of the race, JOHN CABOT (C.S.Jodha) shifted out more than the Jockey had anticipated and hampered the running of FIRECRAKER (G.S.Shekhawat).

After the race, DANGEROUS BELLE was observed to be sore by the left fore leg. The filly has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, HIGHLAND FLAME was observed to have wolf tooth on either side of her mouth.

Race Commentary

Odds at race time: Giaanatassio 2-1, Fire within 4-1, Ascriptive 6-1 & Dancing Dynamite 7-1.

Fire Within led them on a fast clip followed by Bella, Es Sider, Dancing Dynamite on the rails. Rising Hero, Black Phantom, Giannatassio improving on the far side with Ascriptive & Exuberance at the wrong end. Fire Within was weakening as they came to view with Bella moving up along with Es Sider and Dancing Dynamite and Giannatassio under pressure. Bella took over was passed by Dancing Dynamite who stretched out for an impressive victory. Ascriptive showed plenty of speed in the closing stages to finish second ahead of Rising Hero who rallied well along the rails to finish third edging out Giannatassio to fourth.

Odds at race time: Sparta 7/2, Dancing Maestro 9/2, Elementto Angel 11/2, rest 7-1 & over.

Arabian Speed led them followed closely by Lightning Bolt, Elementto Angel, Sparta, Dance Maestro, Queens Court and the rest. Sparta took over the running at the top of the straight followed by Elementto Angel, Ekofisk, Premier Queen, Dance Maestro and the rest. Elementto Angel took over the running and smoothly sailed for an impressive victory staving off the belated challenge from Premier Queen. Sparta stayed on to finish third ahead of Dance Maestro.

SPARTA (C.Alford, dr.4) jumped out awkwardly towards the inside and QUEENS COURT (Nadeem Alam, dr.3) jumped out awkwardly towards the outside and jostled with each other. Both Jockeys, C Alford and Nadeem Alam, have been asked to be more alert at the Gates.

Jockey Anil Baandal (THE BOSS) reported the loss of whip near 550 meters. Since this was the first time that the Jockey had lost his whip during the current Mumbai Meeting and considering that the horse was out of contention, no action has been initiated against the Jockey.

After the race, CLASSIC STAR was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for the stipulated period of 4 weeks. The gelding has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.

After the race, DANCE MAESTRO was observed to have an abrasion on the left hind shank and LIGHTNING BOLT had a wolf tooth on the right side of his mouth.

Race Commentary

Odds at race time: Ptolemy 2-1, Socaroro 5/2, rest 6-1 & over.

Socaroro smartly jumped out and called the shots to the filed followed by Saarah, Lone Trojan, Siberian Siren, Ptolemy improving and the rest of the field. Socaroro established a long lead of five lengths as they came to view followed by Ptolemy sensing the urgency and the rest. Socarroro stretched out further was never in danger of being caught won in great style. Full Throttle came up well to finish second ahead of Ptolemy finishing poor third.

SOCARORO (K.P.G.Appu) played up in the stall. The gelding was unloaded and examined by the Club’s Sr.V.O. who certified him fit to race.

The saddle on PTOLEMY (Malcolm Kharadi) was observed to have slipped back during the race. Tr.Vinayak has been fined Rs.2000/- for faulty saddling of his charge.

PTOLEMY lugged-in in the straight. Tr.Vinayak has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.After the race, SAARAH was observed to be sore by the left fore leg. The mare has to be passed fit by the Club’s V.O. before next accepting to race.
