Ganapathy's recently acquired Tiberius figures at a tidy weight in The VT Velu Memorial Cup, the feature in a long card of nine events framed for Thursday's racing at Bangalore. This handicap for horses in the highest category has attracted ten runners. A couple of horses amongst this group are attempting to maintain their winning streak. Tiberius is the only four year old in this race. He had been a rousing performer as a youngster. A string of victories had ensured that he was one of the highest rated three year olds that raced last summer. A sudden drop in form saw him putting up some pathetic performances. Irfan Ghatala gave him a break from racing and brought him out this season. Because of inadequate assistance from the saddle, Tiberius lost his first start in class III. There has been no looking back thereafter. In the hands of Suraj Narredu, this game galloper has posted a pair of fine victories and progressed to class I. With Dr MAM Ramaswamy buying a bunch of horses in a package deal, including Tiberius, the bay gelding will be seen racing in his colours on Thursday. Tiberius looks capable of completing his hat-trick. The other horse that has improved beyond recognition is Indian Bolt, and this fine galloper will be attempting to make it four-in-a-row. The weight difference between the two of them could prove to be decisive.

Leading trainer Padmanabhan has pitched a number of talented horses in various events on Thursday. He is sure to extend his winning margin in the Trainer's Championship this season. Amongst all of them, the one that catches the eye is State Secret. After graduating from the maiden ranks at the end of winter, this filly ran twice in summer. After finishing sixth behind Portia and Machhiavellianism in The Nanoli Stud Juvenile Million, she re-appeared to take the fifth spot behind Vijay's Pride in The Fillies Championship. On both occasions, she ran prominently and was in the leading pack till the top of the straight. State Secret makes her debut in handicap company. She faces modest opposition in a seven furlong event reserved for horses rated 40-65. Based on all known form and present fitness,  she selects herself as the day's best betting proposition.
