Stunning rose succeeded in bagging the first classic title of the season, the North India 1000 Guineas which was sponsored by the Jagatjit Industries, on Tuesday. But it was Jockey Rajinder who hogged the limelight by showing his prowess on the classic winner and Take a Chance. Running against all odds, the speediest filly Gin And Tonic made the other five fillies to follow her path over the seven furlongs and looked all set to teach a lesson to the favourite Stunning Rose. However, Rajinder left no stone unturned in guiding the fortunes of the latter who survived eventually by getting a nostril better of the former galloping from the stand side. Interestingly, Gin And Tonic was the lone highest rated filly belonging to the class one. Undoubtedly, an extra furlong may further help the daughter (Stunning Rose) of Royal Gladiator and Mount Rose, to achieve more success. However, the race will always be remembered for the brilliance of the two top-notched reinmen at the Delhi circuit Ramandeep Singh Bal and Rajinder. Knowing the fact that Gin And Tonic had a lack of staying capability even though she had scored recently over the similar trip, Ramandeep never allowed her to break away and instead he gave her a breather around the bend and that proved vital. Otherwise, she would not have figured on the board. Interestingly, Gin And Tonic was the lone class one filly competed. On the other hand, Stunning Rose drifted out alarmingly under pressure and despite this, Rajinder continued driving her hard under all out effort. The rest failed to impress. Prior to the mega event, Rajinder did unite with Take A Chance to stun the favourite Elegant Fashion just before the winning post. Three-year-old bay colt Take A Chance might be the first youngster to score in an open class with a massive weight of 60 kilograms. Looking better than the favourite in the paddock, the son of White Crown and Passionate Baby responded well to the urgings of the champ partner. The way he delivered, he should be followed up to the mile. In the opening event, Aristocrat Vodka Plate, Turkish Doll showed a brilliant turn of foot and that performance proves that the filly of Ontario and Argyle Gold should also score over longer trip. Rapid Fire came out of the maiden status in the upper division of Bonnie Special whiskey Plate. She should complete an encore. Northern Prince, who ran second, found the distance too sharp. Striving Higher, who ran close third, may soon raise a winning gallop. Senegal once again proved his superiority in the class three' Milkfood Pure Ghee Plate. The colt, who is one of the top contenders for the 2000 Guineas, routed the field with no mercy over six furlong. Though, the Magan Singh trainee has no match over the shorter trip, yet he has to race over seven furlongs where his actual potential will come in to light. The Rock ran a poor third behind Murban. Confidential Lady finally succeeded in having a date with the winning post. She scored her maiden victory over Romario, who ran after a long lay-off. The latter should make amends.
