Montjeu’s Fame And Glory won the opening race of the British Champions Day, the two miles G3 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup. Jockey Jamie Spencer had Fame And Glory in second behind Chiberta King, till the first four furlongs and decided to move ahead to call the shots. The lead was intact even as the field entered the straight and Fame And Glory quickened when Jamie shifted gears. Opinion Poll was improving around horses throughout the final two furlongs but failed to get to the winner and finished second ahead of Colour Vision and Nehaam, who moved fast in the closing stages.

Trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "He was trained very hard for the Ascot Gold Cup and we had to let him down and be gentle and kind. After his break he had two nice comebacks and I am delighted. Jamie gave him a nice ride."

Jamie Spencer added: "We were always going to be relatively positive on him. I was gutted at the Curragh as nothing happened but he was so electric today. He did well and it is exciting."
