Mr.N.Adil Mirza and Trainer Laxman Singh leading Elzaam (Harinder Singh up), winner of The Fire Haven Cup

Elzaam (Tirol-Shark Games) surprised many racing pundits when she won a five furlongs sprint on Monday at Hyderabad. Elzaam had won six races prior to this, over distances ranging from six furlongs to eleven. Days Of Thunder garnered most support in the betting, winding up as the firm favourite while Pavan also enjoyed strong support. Days Of Thunder was speedy at start and shot ahead to lead over the six rivals. Elzaam in chase throughout started to get closer to Days Of Thunder inside the last 100 metres and after an intense tussle that generated lot of excitement, apprentice Harinder Singh managed to push Laxman Singh’s filly in front by a ‘neck’ at the finish.

Oasis Vision (Senure-Strasburg) turned out to be another good type of youngster from Deshmukh’s nursery. The filly raced in about sixth position even as the field approached the final turn and P.S.Chouhan brought her out, to move around the field. On top of the straight Chouhan just niggled the filly to remind her of the task and she produced a stylish gallop to pull away from the rest. Hidden Power finished second ahead of Shatakshi.

Chouhan drove another favourite Onera Onera Onera (Young Senor-Okati Okati Okati) to the fore, in the higher division of the Blue Bird Plate. Divine Ganges moved closer to Onera …., inside the last furlong and the two pulled away from the rest and started to fight out. Chouhan rode out R.H.Sequeira’s ward powerfully to stave off Divine Ganges’s challenge by three parts of a length.

Anupam Sharma trained Enchantement (Hammerstein-Queen Of Education) made it a one horse race, in the lower division. Running for the first time this season, Enchatement shot off to lead the field on start and kept a healthy leeway right through to finally runaway from the field on the straight. The favourite Chesapeake beat the rest to take the second place.

K.Satheesh’s Music Valley (Warrshan-Unwanted Treasure) came up with a flourish, covering a lot of ground on the straight to win the Hussain Sagar Cup. Chayanandan was up in front right from the start and looked all set to keep the lead till the finish. Fopping weaved through the field menacingly and Music Valley also travelled widest of all and the two charged towards the front. Music Valley moved the best to win by half a length from Fopping while Chayanandan ended up third, a further three parts of a length adrift.

Ajit Kumar was brave enough to push Kohinoor Victory (Inhabitant-Red Hot Babe) through the narrow gap in-between Standing Ovation and Proviso near the 400 m marker and give trainer Ananth Vatsalya a well deserved win, in the Windscale Plate. Style Ikon and Max Baby followed the winner to finish second and third respectively. The favourite April Showers finished a tame sixth behind Cannon Vision and Proviso.

Prasad Raju’s Midnight Beauty (Black Cash-Essex) was ridden by Imran Khan to justify the favouritism in the lower division of the Sangam Plate. Making a swift move as the field showed up on the straight Imran headed straight for the opening along the rails and drew away to win comfortably. Green Thumb rallied late to take the second spot.

M.Sathyanarayana’s Antilia (Oath-Shanavi) surprised the lot with a pillar to post victory in the higher division. Cannon Gem, Royal Bird and Genius Queen filled the frame.
