Dr. D Ravi Chowdary & trainer Anupam Sharma leading Suchiman (G Sai Vamshi Up), winner of The Prince Pradeep Cup

Suchiman (Burden Of Proof-Soviet Lake) caught everyone by surprise when she skipped away to lift the Prince Pradeep Cup, the main event of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. Anupam Sharma’s ward had given a hint about her fitness when she had improved late to finish third behind Onera Onera Onera in her last essay but was completely ignored in the betting ring. Apprentice G.Sai Vamshi rode in copy book fashion, moving behind the leader Enchantment approaching the final turn and surging past near the distance post. Chouhan tried his best to get Mystical Knight on even keel but fell short by a length at the finish. The Leader towed in to take the third spot.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar who is going through a lean patch rode a back to back double to boost his sagging morale. Asbar got off to a good start on Al Malawi (Hammerstein-Starbucks) setting off on a start to finish mission in the higher division of the Crack Regiment Plate. Al Malawi who had faltered after leading till the home stretch in most of her recent runs found extra gas to kick on and win by a comfortable margin. Green Thumb beat the rest of the field to take the second spot in front of Genius Queen.

J.Silvester’s youngster Shatakshi (Case Law-Sharastamina) was quick at start and Asbar was happy to let her do the running in front. Samuel Fargeat who had replaced Imran Khan on Hurricane Dancer started to ride out inside the final furlong but Shatakshi foiled Samuel’s bid and stay in front by a ‘neck’ at the wire. The favourite Speedtosucceed failed to generate speed and finished fourth behind Street Magic.

P.S.Chouhan who has made winning a habit at this centre rode a double through Bribe Madi and Play The Music. Bribe Madi braced the wrong end of the six horse field as Star Striker set the pace in front in the Zurbaran Plate. Entering the home stretch The Challenge put all in him and surged ahead. Chouhan brought Bribe Madi around the field and emerged a neck in front at the finish after fighting a fierce battle with The Challenge right through the last 150 metres. Sheikh’s Emperor finished third many lengths behind.

Chouhan rode Play The Music (Rebuttal-Musical Leaf) from the home stable of L.V.R.Deshmukh to victory in the higher division of the Satavahana Cup. Ben Chocolate likes to cut the wind and that’s what the 3 year old did but failed to keep the lead beyond the last 100 metres when Play The Music ranged alongside. Midnight Beauty covered lot of ground from almost the last position to finish second ahead of Ache For Love and Ben Chocolate close to the winning post.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Cannon Jet (Royal Gladiator-Persian Conquest) was ridden out by Imran Khan to move ahead of the relentless Citi Supreme and score an impressive win in the lower division of the Satavahana Cup. All For Fun rallied late to snatch the second place from Citi Supreme very close to the winning post.

Lakshman Singh’s Balladier (Ikhtyar-Perfect Catch) was confidently piloted by apprentice Harinder Singh to pull off a stunning upset in the lower division of the Crack Regement Plate. Balladier was speedy at start and went to the front to lead the field. As the horses turned for the final run, Balladier came into the straight a clear two lengths ahead of the nearest challenger and kicked on as they got closer to the finish. Cannon Act fell back after chasing Balladier till the distance post to finish third behind the favourite Kohinoor Forever.

D.Netto’s Carte Blanche (Dteinbeck-God’s Grace) found the right rhythm to register a win after two years. Running in the higher division of the Haridwar Plate, Carte Blanch was settled close to the inner rails by Samuel Fargeat to run second behind Al Jabal. As they turned for home Carte Blanche slipped in towards the inner rails and went clear to lift the race. Dancing Touch beat Al Jabal for the second place.

Prasad Raju’s Arabian Dancer (Brave Act-Coco Beach) romped home in the lower division, the concluding race of the day.

Trainers Anupam Sharma, K.S.V.Prasad Raju and jockeys P.S.Chouhan and Ashhad Asbar were the professionals to score a double each on the day.
