L.V.R.Deshmukh’s Plenipotent (Iffraaj-Belton Hill) produced an awesome turn of foot inside the final furlong to lift the Radheyshyam Jhunjhunwala Memorial Juvenile Million, the feature event of Monday’s card at Hyderabad. The got abroad colt that was blazing the track was sent into the race at cramped odds.

P.S.Chouhan had settled Plenipotent well and had moved to be in third behind Bold Attack and Always Bullish as the field turned for home. At one stage, inside the last 300 metres, Plenipotent looked to be in trouble, running green and drifting out of the straight course, when Chouhan started to work his way up but the colt with immense potential quickened in a trice to sizzle past and lift the Million.

Aloisia (Gaswar-Titanium) upset the apple cart of the highly rated Kohinoor Wish in the Mysore Race Club Cup, a seven furlongs trip for horses in the highest category. Kohinoor Wish took charge from Vijay Damini 300 metres from home and Aloisia too followed closely. The two started to fight out over the last 100 metres and Shehzad Abbas’s ward surged ahead by a length to deny Kohinoor Wish a second successive victory.

Shehzad had earlier led in Tico Tico (Greensmith-Romanza) in the Solitaire Plate. Sent into the race as the favourite, Tico Tico won without having to shed a drop of sweat under Dasrath Singh who replaced Mark Gallagher. Settling along the rails behind Art Connoisseur and Gabriel, Tico Tico moved away from the rails as they straightened up for the final run. Dasrath had to just niggle Tico Tico and he responded with a brilliant gallop to register a facile victory.

Anupam Sharma recorded a double through Danny and Kuchipudi. Danny (Don Michelleto-Upper Brook) won the Palampet Cup, the opening race of the day. Silver Lid setting his own pace from the start had established a runaway lead by the time they traversed the 800 m board. Danny improved gradually from midfield to run second as they turned for home and got stronger on the straight to diminish the lead go ahead. Silver Lid held on to finish second in front of Combined Force.

Kuchipudi (Hymn-Steinby) won the lower division of the Classic Style Plate in a flying finish. Jockey C.Henrique who rode the winner opened his account at Hyderabad. Kathakali, Chestnut Charmer and Key Note were engaged in a three way fight when Kuchipudi flashed on with big strides to beat them all and win by three parts of a length. Key Note and Chestnut Charmer were separated by a neck for the minor places.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Indian Epic (Epicentre-Cosmic Swirl) won the lower division. Kohinoor Supreme, Daniella and Indian Epic raced abreast as they came on to the home stretch. Daniella gave up inside the last 150 metres while the other two continued to fight it out. Imran Khan rode out Indian Epic strongly to surge ahead by half a length at the finish.
