Bold Police (Brave Act-Traffic Police) lifted the Sweet Memories Cup, a 1600 metres trip for horses rated 80 and above, the feature event of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Bold Police after finishing second to Field Marshall in the Mysore 2000 Guineas had gone down in the Mysore Derby. Bold Police was racing under Zareer Darashah’s banner as its original trainer Pratap Kamath is serving a suspension. The son of Brave Act was facing a moderate set over the mile trip and as such was installed as the favourite at cramped odds. The field was reduced to six runners with Rising Rainbow being withdrawn.

Bold Police bade his time towards the rear while Forbes List set the pace. Approaching the last 500 metres Ashkan took charge from a tiring Forbes List, to enter the home stretch ahead of the rest. Bold Police made an effortless transition around the field to surge ahead without being asked for anything extra by the rider S.John. Stable companions Ashkan and Ohiyesa followed the winner to make it 1-2-3 for trainer Darashah.

Zareer and John had earlier in the day successfully brought home Huckleberry Finn (Flitch-Secret Silver) in the higher division of the Mangalagangothri Plate. The 3 year old had finished a suggestive fourth in her previous run five weeks ago after failing to make it to the board in her four runs earlier to it. Set to cover an additional furlong, Huckleberry Finn surged ahead to lead near the 500 m marker and kept the tempo on, to score her maiden victory. Prezzie progressed on the straight to give a fight but failed to match strides and finished second.

Micheal Eshwer’s Dream Of Gold (Diffident-Self Appointed) justified the short price offered on her in the Brig.C.D.Mohan Memorial Plate but not before giving some anxious moments to her supporters on the home stretch. The Gain was quick at start and led the field closely followed by Dream Of Gold. Inside the last 300 metres The Gain started to tire out but jockey Appu on the favourite looked to be in a bother unable to move past the leader. Dream Of Gold finally picked up momentum in the last 50 metres and surged ahead to win the race. Heydan rallied on to take the second spot while Cationic came fast towards the closing stages to finish third.

Trainer Bipin V Salvi pulled off a lucrative double through Pokemon Master and Game Face. Pokemon Master (Brave Act-Adventure) scored an upset in the first race of the day, the lower division of the Mangalagangothri Plate. Pearl of Bangalore occupied the second spot, moving late from the rear. Rise And Rise and Kukanof were locked together for the minor places.

Game Face (Brave Hunter-Frisky Royale) held on gamely from Precept to win the Avalanche Star Plate by the shortest of margins. After a slightly lethargic beginning, Game Face was brushed up quickly to hit the front. Precept, on whom the connections had a ‘quite touch’, chased Game Face throughout and inched closer with every stride in the final 150 metres but failed by a ‘nose’ at the wire. Kapathos was withdrawn on veterinary grounds after reaching the starting gates.

C.Girinath trained Byzantine (Warrshan-Seriously Nicole) who had not seen the winning post for the last 22 months was sent into the Planters Plate as the favourite after an indicative previous run and the 5 year old ended the long drought. Improving in-between Suryaputra and Ceasaria on top of the home stretch, Byzantine surged in front to win. Ceasaria offered some resistance but lost out in the fight to finish second.

Absolute Reality (Mr.Mellon-Yes No Maybe So), who runs best when taken to the front, did just that, en-route to a facile victory in the Vani Vilas Sagar Plate. The betting revolved around two horses, Own Way and Iron Marshall, before the race, while the rest were at odds for the asking. Absolute Reality was the smartest out from the inner most draw and set his own pace to lead till the finish. Iron Marshall was in tame chase on the straight, while Own Way never raised hopes at any stage of the race.

Theworldismine (Brave Act-Antecedent) made amends to his earlier failure by winning the Kandla Plate, the last race of the day. Chasing the front runners Rich Rogue and Flirting King till the last 400 metres, Dinesh Pujar’s Theworldismine joined the fight and came out victorious. Flirting King and Rich Rogue took the second and third places respectively in a close finish.
