Mr. Chaduranga Kantharaj Urs & trainer M Eshwer leading Treasure Mountain (YS Srinath Up), winner of The Sweet Memories Trophy

Micheal Eshwer trained Treasure Mountain (Ace-Divine Diamond) lifted the Sweet Memories Trophy which was the feature of the day’s nine races at Mysore on Wednesday. The 3 year old son of Ace went on a start to finish bid over the six furlongs sprint and successfully pilled it off but the win was definitely not effortless, as jockey Y.S.Srinath had to pull out his stick to keep up the momentum when the much older Yakeen and Dancing Touch started to throw a challenge inside the last 150 metres. The two finished second and third respectively while Esoterical filled the frame.

The most impressive performance of the day was that of Dinesh Pujar’s Spirituality (Alnasr Alwasheek-Azzilfi), in the Brig.C.D.Mohan Memorial Plate. A failed favourite in her last outing about three weeks ago, was once again on top at the betting ring. The filly jumped out smartly from the outermost draw and was quickly in second behind Highland Bounty. Rounding the final turn, Spirituality moved smoothly to take charge and kicked on when Time to Time put pressure. Fire Vault moved late to beat Time to Time for the second place, close to the winning post.

Jockey P.S.Chouhan made his Mysore visit profitable by booting home three winners. He rode Darashah’s youngster Keturah, then successfully converted the ‘Penalty Kick’ in the very next race and then wrapped up with a double for Darashah on Sky High in the concluding race. Trainer J.Saravanan too had a memorable day with a treble.

Keturah (Burden Of Proof-Astrodance) won the seven furlongs December Plate from pillar to post. Keturah had won her earlier outing but the race was declared Null and Void and the filly remained a maiden. The field of ten was reduced to eight after Dasara Queen and Unexpected Visitor were withdrawn. Keturah was quick at start and went to the front to lead and came in to the straight with a lead of about two lengths. Inside the last 400 metres, Keturah extended the leeway and was nearly seven lengths in front as she went past the winning post. Galaxy Queen finished second while the favourite Southern Grackle was a disappointing third.

Bipin Salvi’s Penalty Kick (Mr Mellon-Plano) who had remained winless even after fourteen runs registered a fluent win in the higher division of the Mangalagangotri Plate. Sun Rich had surged ahead to take over the running 300 metres from home. Penalty Kick in a close fifth position as the field came on to the home straight made rapid progress with Chouhan using just his hands and heels and moved fluently past the front runners in front of the grand stand. Sun Rich held on to the second place from Blues and Royals who came fast from the rear.

The 3 year old Sky High (Acclamation-Cois Cuain), who had finished second in her previous three runs, finally made it to the winner’s enclosure to earn her maiden win. Amiable Lady had set out on a start to finish mission, leading till the last 150 metres, from where Sky High moved easily to shoot ahead. Napolean Dynamite came with a late run to finish ahead of Amiable Lady.

The 7 year old Walter (Juniper-Forgotten Dreams) from J.Saravanan’s yard came up with a sustained run to go clear in the last 100 metres of the Kandla Plate. Green Vision who led from the start started to tire out on entering the straight. Winning Tale got the better of Huckleberry Finn for the second position. The race favourite Always For You reared up as the gates opened and lost all its chances at the start.

J.Sarvanan started the day with Good Gift (Brave Hunter-Winning Look) in the opener, the lower division of the Mangalagangotri Plate. Good Gift was backed to the exclusion of the other runners but the win came on the last stride. The bottom weighted Different Opinion was in front all the way. Good Gift, fourth at bend, rallied along the rails and jockey S.John worked hard to get it to rush forward and snatch the race on the last stride. Attaturk and Son of The Sun flew in towards the closing stages to finish third a fourth respectively in a close finish.

Saravanan led in his third winner of the day, Amazer (Beckett-Jade Image), in the higher division of the Avalanche Star Plate.Apprentice M.Rajesh Kumar did not hurry up Amazer as the start was effected and improved gradually to be in fourth at the bend. Moving up easily, Amazer went past the long time leader Speedy Amigo. Time Flies came in late to finish third. The rider of Time Flies weighed in 4 kilograms less on return and was disqualified under Rule 180 of the B.T.C.Rules of racing.Impedimenta was elevated to the third place after Time Flies’s disqualification. An enquiry has been opened into the incident.

Ranjeet Shinde trained The Spartan (Alnasr Alwasheek-Chantale) upset the apple cart of Chinab in the lower division. The 7 year old who had not won a race for over two years now, moved with ease to surge past Chinab inside the last furlong.
