Imran Khan scored a double and almost confirmed his place at the top of the jockey’s tally with a five point lead over Harish. The championships will be decided on Wednesday, as the extra day of racing on the 11th instant will not be considered, and it is a tall task for the Monsoon Champion Harish, to get the better of Imran. The fight for the top spot among the trainers is still open with Prasad Raju holding an advantage of two points over L.D’Silva. With both these trainers’ having runners with good chances on Wednesday, the fight may go up to the wire.

Donald Netto’s Auxilliary continued her unblemished winter record and claimed the Raja Bahadur Venkatram Reddy Memorial Cup, the feature of the day’s card on Tuesday. Having settled well in third position, behind Raj Veer and Red Fairy, as the field approached the final bend, Gnaneshwar guided the five year old mare to the front and she won with a measure of comfort from Sound of Nature, who covered a lot of ground with a late dash to finish within a length behind the winner.

Imran had a back to back double as the day started. Blaack Mischief led from the 1400 metres in the Circar Cup and won as he liked. Nano War finished second ahead of Iaepetus. Jockey P.S.Chouhan, who rode Iaepetus took an objection on the rider of Nano War for running ‘in and out’ in the last 300 metres, thereby obstructing his run, was rightly overruled by the stewards.

Imran brought Victorous Sally with a fluent gallop mid way up the straight, even as A Fire Work and Reality Show were involved in a tussle, to win the higher division of the Super Brave Plate.

D’Silva’s Mighty Prince claimed the lower division from Alberton Star. After taking a good jump, Mighty Prince hit the front and jockey Harish had to give a hard ride throughout the last 400 metres to stay in the lead, as he began to shorten his stride in the last 50 metres. The Beatles Angel was withdrawn after she slipped out of the handler’s grip and bolted.

The Gold Soverign Plate witnessed a pulsating finish with Greatballofchina and Plat it Smart involved in a ding dong battle in the last furlong and the latter getting his nose in front at the wire. Apprentice M.Krishna rode his thirtieth winner on Play it Smart and thereby has shed his allowance to one and a half kilos. Ripples came from nowhere to finish a close third.

Indian Storm carried the public purse to victory in the higher division of the Pelican Plate while rank outsider, Since stunned in the lower division. Jockey Harish was hard at work on Lenavi to give his trainer an equalizer in the championship tally when the Bangalore based Jockey, Vivek, brought the bottom weighted Indian Storm with a good gallop to pass Lenavi in the last 10 metres of the race. Proud Accolade was always in third on the straight and never improved. Jockey N.M.Seqqueira replaced the medically unfit Ch.K.Chary on Heydan. Since, brought the jackpot tickets crashing down in the very first leg, when he won from Alcohology and Indradhanush.

Both the divisions of the Mossy Banks Plate were won by market fancies. The higher division was lifted by Mr.Chief, who took it up right from the start and stayed well in front of True Value at the finish. Vijay Lakh was withdrawn before the race. Prasad Raju’s Grey Shot quickened well on the straight to dash the hopes of Classic Dancer.
