Outstrip (M E Smith Up), winner of Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (Gr.1)

Outstrip hoisted the Godolphin flag in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf with an astonishing late dash. Jockey Mike Smith was at the helm once again to guide trainer Charles Appleby’s 2 year old colt.

Bobby’s Kitten hit the front early, over the mile trip and set a fast pace. Giovanni Boldini with Ryan Moore on the saddle raced close behind, while Outstrip dwelt towards the rear with just two behind him. Inside the last two furlongs Ryan Moore rode out Giovanni Boldini to challenge the leader Bobby’s Kitten and headed past to lead with a furlong left. Outstrip weaved through the field as the race got to a boil 2 furlongs out and with a scorching turn of foot flew in, to snatch the victory in the shadow of the winning post. The favourite Bobby’s Kitten finished third.

Trainer Charles Appleby celebrating his first success at the highest level, said, "He likes having something to run at and Mike was always confident he was going to get there. This means a lot to me and the team, it's fantastic."
