Trainer Bob Baffert scored his second win at this year’s Breeders’ Cup when he led in Secret Circle in the G1 Xpressbet Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Jockey Martin Garcia who had ridden New Year’s Day for Baffert in the Juvenile was on the winner again.

Secret Circle had won the Juvenile Sprint here two years ago but an injury forced him to stay out last year. Back to the track only a month earlier with a win in a preparatory race at this track, Secret Circle was the popular choice at 5-2.

Secret Circle was well in touch tracking the leaders early. Approaching the bend before the straight, Secret Circle was brought five wide by Garcia and made headway to take charge inside the last furlong. Laugh Track chased the winner towards the closing stages but Secret Circle stayed well to win by a neck. Gentlemen’s Bet, who led till passed by Secret Circle, ended up third.

"I had a really good trip," said Martin Garcia. "My horse was outside and the whole field was inside of me. I took advantage from there because I knew I had the best horse. I saw the other horse [Laugh Track] coming up on the outside and my horse started messing around but by then it was too late to beat me."

"I almost had him ready last year and then he had one of those little setbacks. But he came back this year and we just freshened him up. I got the race into him here and he was training really great”said the winning trainer Bob Baffert.
