Graham Motion trained Main Sequence who has hit a purple patch earned his fourth straight win at the highest level after moving over to America, in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf. Main Sequence was held up towards the rear early by J R Velazquez. Making headway nearing the far turn, travelling four wide all the way, he continued to improve positions entering the straight and set off with an exhilarating gallop in the centre of the track. Flashing past Flintshire inside the last 150 yards Main Sequence was pushed out to stay comfortably in front by half a length. Twilight Eclipse finished third.

"I hadn’t even thought about Horse of the Year now, but I think he should be," said trainer Graham Motion while commenting on his ward’s roaring success. "Horses don’t win four Grade Is in a row like that. How many horses can do that? He has to be one of the best I’ve trained."
