Trainer Anupam Sharma leading Lopamudra (K Mukesh Kumar Up), winner of The Jockey Purtu Singh Parmer Memorial Cup

Anupam Sharma trained Lopamudra (Hymn-Code Red) won the Jockey Purtu Singh Parmer Memorial Cup in an impressive fashion. The 3 year old filly garnered the popular support among the ten horses that were left for the seven furlongs following the withdrawal of Dance To Destiny. Apprentice K.Mukesh Kumar held back Lopamudra in about seventh position till entering the straight while Bold Attack and Kianoosh disputed the lead. Passing the 400 metres board Golden Essence rushed from the outside to grab the lead and in the process moved sharply towards the rails thereby severely interfering with Princess Cruise who was slipping in along the rails. Lopamudra in the meanwhile set sails from the wide outside and with a resolute gallop sped past all of them. Princess Cruise regained lost momentum to finish third behind Golden Essence but earned the runner-up berth in the Steward’s room following an objection.

M.Srinivas Reddy schooled Woman O War (Kingda Ka-Silver Clasp) scored an encore in fine fashion in the Golden Dagger Plate. The juvenile filly carrying top impost of 60.5 kilograms tracked the leader Wonder Star till approaching the last 400 metres and stretched out effortlessly to draw away by seven lengths when jockey P.S.Chouhan shifted gears. Escalante, travelling in third till the last furlong beat the weakening Wonder Star for the second place. Spirited was withdrawn before the race.

Trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh saddled a double through Machine Gun and Vijays Casper. Machine Gun (Rebuttal-Maria T / Hazara Stud) was ridden hard by P.S.Chouhan to wrap up the Rainbows For Life Plate. Seven runners took off for the 2200 metres race. The top weighted Ice Barrier set off on a decent pace with Silver Cruise and Vijay Vidyut racing close behind. Machine Gun held the rails in fourth while the fancied Star Player braced the rear. As they headed past the 600 metres Machine Gun was gradually pulled to the outside to make a run from around the front runners. Machine Gun sped past Silver Cruise who offered some fight for a short distance and then had to be ridden out to hold on to the lead from Star Player who began to inch closer with each stride in the last 100 metres. Vijay Vidyut and Westminister finished third and fourth respectively.

Vijays Casper (Zamindar-Blueberry) showed plenty of speed while annexing the Osman Sagar Cup. The youngster jumped out smartly from an outward draw and rushed towards the fence to get to the lead. Mrinalini raced a close second but gave up the chase inside the last 300 metres after finding it hard to keep pace with Vijays Casper. Vijay Sakhi came with a late try but Vijays Casper was safely home by then. Mrinalini stayed on in third while the favourite Parade Queen ended up a tame fourth.

Jockey Beuzelin Louis packed a double for his trainer Donald Netto. Taviz and In Reality were the victors from the stable. Taviz (Echo of Light-In To The Future) made every post of the 1600 metres trip a winning one in the Bhavnagar Plate. Jockey Beuzelin Louis took the filly to the front as the horses were dispatched. The top weighted Vista settled in second followed closely by Make Me A Star and Graceland together and the rest in tow. On the home stretch Taviz galloped merrily in front even as Vista failed in her attempts to catch up. Silver Passion came in late to finish second while Make Me A Star and Graceland filled the judge’s frame in that order. Vijay Vishw was withdrawn before the race.

Luis took advantage of the inside draw and shot to the lead on the favourite In Reality. Held well not to take a long leeway till approaching the distance marker, In Reality stretched out easily when the reins were eased to score easily. Flying Spur and Jaz Elle rallied late to take the second and third spot respectively. Khalis Gold finished fourth after chasing the winner till the last 200 metres.

K.Satheesh trained Transition (Hurricane Center-Wingnaprayer) who had found one better in her previous three attempts came good to win the Ming Dynasty Plate. Placed widest of the eleven horses as they lined up for the start, Transition took a good jump and raced her way to hit the front. Leading all the way Transition kept going till the finish even as the favourite struggled to go past Olympic Gold for the runner-up berth.
