Mr K. Someshwar Bhupa & trainer L V R Deshmukh leading Decathlon (P S Chouhan Up), winner of The A.P.Race Horse Owners Association Trophy Div-I

L.V.R.Deshmukh’s ward Decathlon (Phoenix Tower-Dancerllon / Manjri Stud) slammed the A.P.Race Horse Owners Association Trophy – Div.I that featured the nine races card at Hyderabad. Jockey P.S.Chouhan had Decathlon racing three off the fence all the way with the front bunch while the favourite Galiat rallied on the inside. Entering the home stretch Decathlon rushed to grab the lead and Chouhan kept riding out to keep the lead till the finish. Golden Essence finished second ahead of Golden Arrow while Galiat carrying the top weight of 64 kilograms failed to make light of it and ended up fourth.

Anupam Sharma’s Ashok Chakra (Rebuttal-Belinda) which had finished in the money in the money in its last five starts but failed to make it to the top finally came good to win the lower division beating the ‘on money’ favourite Movie Moghual. Modern Sniper set off on a start to finish bid with AshokChakra along the rails and Movie Moghual on the outside in close attendance. Inside the last 300 metres Ashok Chakra started to challenge the relentless Modern Sniper and headed past 100 metres from home. Movie Moghual was closing the gap towards the closing stages but Ashok Chakra was safely home by a length.

Trainer M.Sathyanarayana’s ward Allianz Arena (Puerto Madero-Cape Africa) justified the favouritism in the Taramati Cup. Shatakshi led the field early followed closely by Military Cross and Allianz Arena improving quickly to run in third position approaching the final bend. Inside the last 400 metres Military Cross surged ahead with Allianz Arena beginning to challenge from the outside. Allianz Arena picked up speed inside the last 150 metres and sped past to score an easy win over Military Cross.

Trainer Deshmukh and jockey P.S.Chouhan had started with a win in the second division of the Royal Prince Plate, the opener of the day. Rumaiya Vastavaiya (Duke Of Marmalade-Ridgey Didge) scored its maiden win over the five and a half furlongs trip. Chandraja was in the lead from the start and looked to be kicking on approaching the last furlong but Rumaiya Vastavaiya responded well to Chouhan’s riding and sped past to win by three parts of a length.

Anupam Sharma and jockey K.Mukesh Kumar pulled off their double in the higher division with Gochi (Hammerstein-Tudor Queen) showing plenty of speed at start to get to the front and stretch out easily to make every post a winning one. The favourite Hunter’s Pride and Gun Stream followed the winner all the way from the start and ended up that way.

Veteran trainer K.R.K.Raju who returned to training recently after many years led in his first winner of his second stint through Royal Glow (Hurricane State-Entourage) in the division III of the Royal Prince Plate. Royal Glow who was still a maiden from seventeen starts made it almost a start to finish affair in the race. Getting to lead the pack within the first 100 metres, Royal Glow kicked on gamely in the straight even as Full Of Life and Typhoon made futile attempt towards the closing stages.

Trainer K.Satheesh also saddled a double on the day through Ice Crystal and Kimono. Ice Crystal (Noverre-Mandavilla) won the Republic Plate, a mile race for maiden 3 year old horses. Ice Crystal rallied in about fifth position till the last 300 metres and weaving through the horses in front took charge and stretched out easily to shed her maiden ranks in runaway fashion. Sketch Of Beauty rallied on to take the second spot in front of Beau Sabreur.

Kimono (Noverre-Hounds Of Love) scored an encore in the Prince Khartoum Plate under apprentice N.S.Rathore. After a sluggish start Kimono improved gradually to be on the haunches of front running Eva on entering the straight and surged ahead without much fuss. Rebellion warmed up late but only to beat Eva for the second place.

D.Netto trained Fruit Roll Up (C P West-Fabulously Bold) scored an encore in the Mossy Banks Plate. Blossom was in the lead inside the last 400 metres with Torremolinos being pressed hard. Fruit Roll Up started to make her bid from the outside and with jockey Louis Beuzelin giving a few hard cracks picked up speed readily at sped past to settle the issue. Blossom finished second with Red Express and Symbol Of Glory filling the judge’s frame in that order.
