Trainer Feroz M Khan leading Absolute Brave (V R Jagadeesh Up), winner of The Chevalier Trophy

Feroz M Khan trained Absolute Brave (Glory of Dancer-Exotic Moves / Nanoli Stud) clinched the Chevalier Trophy on a day of competitive racing at Mysore. Trainers S.Rakesh and C.V.G.K.Kishore sent out a brace of winners while jockey M Madhu Babu rode one winner each for both of them.

Absolute Brave relished the solid pace set by Beyond Thankful and settled nicely in second. As they headed past the 600 metres board jockey V.R.Jagadeesh took Absolute Brave to lead the field and kept riding out till the winning post. Class is Class tracked Absolute Brave all the way from the start and started to put up a brave challenge but the top weight of 61 kilograms seemed a bit tough for the gelding while going down by a neck. Queen rallied along the rails to take the third spot another length behind. The favourite Spiritual Blue could only manage to make it to the frame.

Trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore scored his double through Brigadier and Divine Love. Jockey M Madhu Babu who has started off the season well made it a start to finish affair in the Kollegal Plate. The filly came in with a lead of about two lengths into the straight and stretched out easily. Daylite beat the favourite Triple Victory for the runner-up berth. All For Cash finished fourth.

The favourite Brigadier (Ace-Star Angel / Poonawalla Stud) gave some anxious moments to its supporters before pulling it off in the Sutleg Plate. Act of Glory got to the front early and brought the pack into the straight with Kir Royale in chase. Brigadier in about seventh or eighth was stuck along the rails with horses all around entering the last 400 metres. Jockey Irvan Singh started to pull out Brigadier and once shown the daylight, the 6 year old gelding got into the rhythm and flashed on to stick its neck out from Come on Gingin who came flying from the rear. Kir Royale stayed on in third ahead of Act of Glory.

G Srinivas Babu trained Champions Star (Mr.Mellon-Almelo / Ruia Stud) which had shifted base from Western India last winter tasted its first success in the lower division of the Arakalgudu Plate. Improving from fourth position as they rounded the final bend, Champions Star rallied from the outside to take the lead but jockey Saddam Hussain had to use the stick to keep at bay the relentless Aanchal Beauty. Champions Star managed to garner a lead of two lengths at the finish but the credit should also go to the feeble handling of Aanchal Beauty. Ice Brown and Aristomache finished third and fourth respectively. Cadogan was withdrawn after being troublesome in the gates.

S.Rakesh saddled a double again with Color Me and Chandini. Color Me (Brave Act-Color Me Red / Kunigal Stud) was backed with conviction in the higher division and the 7 year old justified the trust in a convincing manner. Color Me tracked the leader Divine Deliverance till the last 600 metres and surged forward quickly to take charge even before straightening for home. Sivanta was in second for sometime on the straight and then Malkia moved up along the rails but found Color Me too hot to catch up. Guapo was a tame third ahead of Rocketeer.

Chandini (Crown Jewel-Princess Chand / Noble Stud) justified the top billing in the lower division of the Chaitanya Chakram Plate. Chandini was slow at start and lost over three lengths. Travelling in the rear till entering the home stretch the 5 year old started to cover ground from the wide outside even as Natural Nine took charge from the long-time leader Stride to Success inside the last 200 metres. Chandini flew past the front runners and spared two lengths over Natural Nine at the wire. Best Move warmed up late to be a close third ahead of Nuala.

Vikram Appachu trained Gunpowder (Fabulous King-Badgering / Hurricane Stud) won the higher division. Peppr came in first on the straight with Blue Zone in hot chase and Gunpowder getting up strongly from the wider outside. Blue Zone stepped up momentum and surged ahead by a little over a length but that was short lived as the 8 year old Gunpowder powered its was to stick out its neck in front at the wire. Infinithoughts who braced along with the rear bunch for most part of the race made a bid from the inside to be third another length away.

Amazing (Abbeyside-Alflora / Sunder Stud) from trainer Dinesh Pujar’s yard scored an impressive win in the Bidadi Plate, the first race of the day run over seven furlongs. The chestnut filly settled nicely along the fence as Classic King started to head the pack. As they turned for home Amazing surged ahead to take charge and was challenged by last outing winner Silent Trust. At the top of the straight a duel looked imminent but the daughter of Abbeyside stretched out easily under G Sai Vamshi to leave behind Silent Trust by 4 ½ lengths. MidnightBreeze after a sluggish start trailed the field till half way and improving nicely in the last furlong finished an eye catching third.
