Trainer M Srinivas Reddy leading Altruist (Imran Chisty Up), winner of The Major Mir Mujtaba Hussain Memorial Cup Div-I

M Srinivas Reddy trained Altruist (Gaswar-Speed Mistress) won the Major Mir Mujtaba Hussain Memorial Cup – Div.I, the main event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. Sent off at 3-1 Altruist tracked the favoured Blossom who showed plenty of speed from the start to be on a start to finish bid. Jockey Imran Chisty started to ride out Altruist in the final furlong and the gelding after a keen tussle for a short while forged ahead to hit the winning post first by three parts of a length. Friendless Symbol of Glory and Rapidest finished third and fourth respectively.

K Satheesh’s Always Together (Noverre-Racy Description) displayed her superiority over her opponents in the lower division. Military Cross with Imran Chisty astride tried to make it a start to finish affair. Always Together who was racing with the front bunch moved quickly to be on the haunches of the leader as they turned for home and stretched clear when apprentice N S Rathore set the filly free from the outside passing the 400 metres board. Aston Doulton and Rosemonde finished second and third respectively while Military Cross tired out to end up fourth.

Trainer Laxman Singh’s ward Time To Time (Carnival Dancer-Native Princess) wrapped up the Indiscretion Plate. Sarvagnya set the pace over the nine furlongs distance and kept kicking on even into the last furlong. Flower Roll Up was in second all the way with Time To Time racing third. When asked for an effort by Kuldeep Singh, Time To Time began to close up and forged ahead of the relentless Sarvagnya. Tiger was the fastest moving from behind on the wide outside but fell short by half a length to collar Time To Time.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju and jockey P Sai Kumar teamed up to score a double through Sonic and Chocolate Greedy. Sonic (Carnival Dancer-Three in One) which had advertised its fitness while finishing second in its last essay over a scurry, was supported strongly for the Byerly Brigade Cup. Racing handily behind the leader Exclusive Lady along with Classic Emerald, Sonic was ridden out by Sai Kumar approaching the last 200 metres. The 5 year old gelding fought out with Classic Emerald for a short while before surging clear. Fenway Court came in late to beat Classic Emerald for the second place.

Chocolate Greedy (Ace-Chantale), the even money favourite pulled off a maiden win in the Subramanya Bharati Plate, the concluding race of the day. Beauty Flash and Oathofyourdaughter were battling it out on entering the straight while Chocolate Greedy was racing in about fourth position. Jockey Sai Kumar was at the job even before straightening up and had to work hard to get his mount to raise a gallop but once he did there was no stopping the gelding who drew clear. Oathofyourdaughter, Beauty Flash and Jnior filled the judge’s frame in that order. Nano Class and Walloper were non-starters in the race.

Trainer Faiyaz Shaikh saddled the first winner of the season through Rubyonrails (Roi Maudit-Flaming Ruby) in the Astronomic Cup. The filly was held back in the last position till the top of the straight while D’Silva’s Romantic Fire set off on a start to finish bid. Rubyonrails improved through the field and with a flourish sped past Romantic Fire inside the last 100 metres. Princess Hina finished third.

L.D’Silva trained South Lake (Express Wish-Designer Chic / Mebajeona Stud) shed her maiden ranks in the opener of the day, the lower division of the Sangareddy Plate. Racing a handy third behind Golden Angel and Eve, South Lake responded to Arshad Alam’s strong riding and skipped away to win by three lengths. Golden Angel and Eva finished second and third respectively.
