Frankie Dettori was at his exceptional best while driving home Golden Horn to clinch the G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp. In doing so Dettori bagged a record fourth of this prestigious race. Golden Horn who has won the Investec Derby, Coral-Eclipse, Qipco Irish Champion Stakes added the Arc, a first for trainer John Gosden.

Treve’s pacemaker Shahah was at the job and Dettori chose to track the leader on Golden Horn. Once on the straight Golden Horn streaked ahead and opened a good lead even as the rest were left in futile chase. Flintshire finished second two lengths behind and New Bay ended up third. The favourite Treve was who was looking for a historical hat-trick just couldn’t pull it off and ended up fourth.

"He’s a fabulous horse with a gorgeous constitution and I’ve nothing but praise for him”, said trainer John Gosden who was savouring his first success in the  €5 million race. “He’s taken a lot of training all year and he does stay a mile and a half--we are sure of that now. I was very happy with the ground and probably on soft, Treve would have blown us all away,” he added.

"He's probably the best horse I've ridden," said Frankie Dettori. "It was an amazing performance. I scratched my head all week about what to do, but I knew I was on the best horse so I wanted to make use of him and show the world just how good he really is".
