CITY OF HARMONY JUSTIFIES FAVOURITISM IN FEATURE

M.Sathyanarayana trained City Of Harmony (Rebuttal-Well Rehearsed) scored a convincing victory in the R.Raghupathi Reddy Memorial Cup, a 9 furlongs race for horses in the highest category that featured Christmas day’s card at Hyderabad. The son of Rebuttal who had finished third in the 2000 Guineas after three wins on the trot was installed as the on-money favourite despite going over the trip for the first time.

Red Rambble went to the front early followed by Rio Rojo, Supreme Fairy, Found Money, City Of Harmony, Vijay Vaishnavee, Woman O War and Tintinnabulation. Into the straight Red Rambble was still in the lead and working hard to stay put even as Supreme Fairy and Found Money got closer. City Of Harmoney in the meanwhile was pulled out to make a bid from the outside and the 3 years old under Louis Beuzelin stepped up momentum to storm ahead approaching the distance post and won comfortably. Red Rambble held on in second from Found Money and Tintinnabulation.

K.Satheesh trained Limitation (Noverre-Hollow Ridge) asserted its supremacy in the 1 EME Centre Rolling Trophy. Penumatcha’s Pride got to the front of the field passing the half way stage and came in with a lead of about three lengths into the straight. Racing in about fifth rounding the final turn, Limitation picked up speed to overhaul the front runners and storm home easily. Penumatcha’s Pride held on to the second place from Agusta Bombshell. Brilliant filed the frame.

Jockey Louis Beuzelin scored his double through D.Netto’s Double Charter (Lucifer Sam-Crown Charter) in the Romantic Fantasy Plate. Beuzelin took the filly to the front as the gates opened, led all the way and drew clear on the straight. Top Contender and Breezeofthesouth battled hard behind the leader before being beaten by Scooby Dooby Doo for the runner-up berth.

S.S.Faisal Hassan schooled That’s My Class (Top Class-Bella) defied the penalty for its debut win and scored an encore in the Haridwar Plate. Racing in fourth behind Gladstone, Top Link and Star Gazer till entering the home stretch That’s My Class rushed from the outside to grab the lead passing the 300 metres and kicked on to stay ahead of Lady In Lace’s bid. The favourite Top Link was a tame fourth followed by Star Gazer.

L.D’Silva trained Magnum (Green Coast-Okati Okati Okati) pulled off a stunning upset in the division I of the Galactica Plate. The 3 years old bay colt had finished down the field in its last two starts after winning over 1100 metres during the monsoon season and was not in the reckoning going by the betting for the sprint. Platinum went on a start to finish bid followed by Amazing Venus and Magnum in third. Inside the last 200 metres Magnum picked up speed and sped past to beat Platinum by three parts of a length. General Salute and Amazing Venus finished third and fourth respectively.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Manoveg (Stern Opinion-Ashatamasha) made every post a winning one in the lower division. Jumping out smartly from the innermost draw Manoveg rushed to the front and settled well to lead. Inside the last 200 metres Born To Do It came up with a challenge but Manoveg kicked on to keep three lengths lead till the finish. Bharat King was third many lengths behind while Chester filled the frame.

Faiyaz Shaikh trained Hunter’s Pride (Noverre- Pescara) managed to neck out the favourite Catherine in the division I of the Loveable Princess Plate. Catherine set off on a start to finish bid and looked good till into the final furlong. Hunter’s Pride racing in third all the way started to gain ground from the outside and with a final thrust stretched its neck in the closing stages to wrap it off. Midnight In Paris that raced in second all the way ended up third ahead of Garib Parwar.

K.Satheesh trained Fair And Square (Opportunist-Conqueror) made every post a winning one in the lower division. Bouncer sporting the same colours as that of the winner was in chase throughout the 1100 metres distance and held on in second from Military Cross. Golden Phoenix ended up fourth.

Anupam Sharma trained Good Confidence Sedgefield-Cozumel) that was winless from 13 starts finally came good to win the lower division of the Sweet Girl Plate. Good Confidence came up well from an outward draw to get to the front within the first furlong of the 1200 metres trip. Continuing to keep the lead Good Confidence kicked on to keep Sefarina at bay throughout the last 200 metres. Dawning Hope got the better of Golden Joy for the third place.
