K.Satheesh trained Time For Fun (Noverre-West With The Wind) pulled off an upset in the Telangana And Andhra Sub-Area Cup that featured Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. The 5 year old mare that had advertised its form while finishing second to Chase Your Dreams a fortnight ago was neglected in the betting while Aika Aika Aika garnered the maximum support. Time For Fun raced in about ninth position till the field of 13 runners approached the last 400 metres. The favourite Aika Aika Aika was the first to take the initiative in the straight and was in the lead passing the 300 metres board. Time For Fun began to improve places and with a final heave surged ahead by three parts of a length. Stable companions Ashwa Raftar and Western Wind finished third and fourth respectively.

Laxman Singh trained Vijay’s Dynamite (Ravel-Therry Girl) bounced back to winning ways in the opener of the day, the Elusive Hero Plate. Vijay’s Dynamite was taken to the front by Gopal Singh as they set off for the 2000 metres trip and had established an sizable lead as they approached the final turn. City Of Sails was up with a challenge right through the final straight but Vijay’s Dynamite had some reserves in the tabk to carry on till the finish. Tootsie Roll and Exclusive Striker went past the post in a close finish for the third and fourth places respectively.

Manjri Stud bred Shimmers (Phoenix Tower-Stunning Star) made a smashing start to her career in the Nagarjuna Sagar Plate. The filly sat well to chase Vallee Romance right from the start and started to move up inside the last furlong. Vallee Romance was relentless and tried hard to stay on but once Shimmers got into rhythm, she stretched out to extend the margin of victory. Air Salute just managed to edge out Vallee Romance for the second place. Alta Vita completed the frame.

Jockey Akshay Kumar who is on a roll this season had a solitary win through M. Sathyanarayana trained Dream Catcher (Green Coast-Florshein) in the Ardent Knight Plate. The gelding trounced the field by a lengthening margin. Racing a handy third behind Gladstone and After Eight till the top of the straight, Dream Catcher stormed ahead to grab the lead and broke away from the pack. For the record Shandaar, News O’Star and Gladstone filled the frame in that order.

Sk Kassam trained Citi Colors (Arabian Gulf-City Zone) won the battle with General Salute in the Vegavathi Plate. General Salute, Time To Climb and Citi Colors fought for their head in the early stages and broke away from the rest of the runners. Inside the last 200 metres General Salute and Citi Colors got down to fight and after a keen tussle the latter surged ahead with A.A. Vikrant on the saddle. Golden Xanthus finished third followed by Secret Art.

Ananta Vatsalya trained Kohinoor Legend (Epicentre-Corn Fleur) opened its account in the division I of the Bhongir Plate. Racing with the bunch till entering the straight Kohinoor Legend challenged Enter Canter strongly and stormed ahead with a furlong left from home. Patron Saint rallied in second followed by Sunday Carnival and Mountain Of Light.

In the lower division Arjun Anne trained Recumbentibus (Deans Kitten-Sea Angel) came out of the maiden ranks with a resounding victory. Travelling in about fifth from the start Recumbemtibus took the final bend a bit wide but came with a good burst of speed and stormed clear. Cannon Grey finished second followed by Ice Mummy and Flowersfromabrook.

Trainer K.Sathesh was the only professional to score a double on the day. The well backed favourite Sweet Story (Mathematecian-Four Seasons) scored impressively over the sprint trip inspite of being sluggish at start. The filly improved gradually after missing the jump and when the field came into the last 400 metres, raised a quick gallop to grab the lead and kicked on from Jasmine Garden. Tough Sussex and Indian Knight filled the frame in that order. Friendly Gesture was a non-starter in the race.
