Darius Byramji trained Prevalent Force (Multidimensional-Prevalence / Usha Stud) added another ‘Classic’ feather to his hat, winning the Golconda 2000 Guineas (Gr.2) on the winter track at Malakpet, Hyderabad. The son of Multidimensional who has just lost once on the debut effort literarily demolished the opposition in the customary mile trip. The bay colt was sent off as ‘money back’ favourite among the nine runners.

Jockey Y.S. Srinath who has partnered Prevalent Force in all his races held him back a close fourth while Standout made the early running followed by Zelus and Dream Catcher. As they turned for home Suraj Narredu who was well aware of the acceleration of the favourite went for the opening with his mount Dream Catcher and slipped to the lead. Prevalent Force was guided from around the front runners by Srinath on top of the straight and the Champion colt accelerated in tremendous fashion to leave the field cold behind. Tootsie Roll came from the rear to snatch the runner-up berth from Dream Catcher. Zelus completed the frame.

The speedy Paprika (Tariq-Encouragement) from trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh’s yard made every post a winning one in the Dr. M.A.M. Ramaswamy Memorial Plate, Div.I. Drawn from the widest draw Paprika rushed to the front and brought the field into view in the straight. The filly went easy with jockey Akshay Kumar and won without any fuss. Mirfield came in late to take the second place from Numinous. Oh Dear completed the frame.

M. Sathyanarayana trained Pentagon (Varenar-Hi Fi) rallied strongly to win the lower division.  Pentagon had a slender lead till turning for home. Once on the straight Seven Colours went ahead for a brief while but Pentagon regained the lead from the inside and held off a late bid of Astra. Vallee Sceptre and Double Charter also joined the pack to be a close third and fourth respectively.

Laxman Singh trained Rahil (Wharsthescript-Hoofbeats) started her career with an impressive win in the King Rama Plate. The filly was running a bit green in the early stages and raced in third behind Once More and Classic Remark. With about 300 metres left in the straight Rahil started to stride out from the outside and once she grabbed the lead, went clear. Classic Remark finished second while Once More finished a faraway third.

Trainer K. Satheesh who is having a good run this winter led in a solitary win through Prince Caspian (Excellent Art-Entendu) in the Golden Dagger Plate. The youngster rushed to the front as they got out of the gates and brought the field into view in the straight. Eternal Angel slipped in through the rails and led briefly but Prince Caspian fought back bravely and surged clear to score an encore. Supremo came in late to take the second spot from Eternal Angel. Starlight completed the frame. Miracle King was withdrawn near the gates.

M. Srinivas Reddy trained Champion Bull (Burden of Proof-Tetisheri) won the division I of the Members Plate. Apowerx went on a start to finish bid and led till passing the distance marker. Champion Bull started to challenge from the outside and with the leader also shortening the strides, went ahead and drew clear. Yanga finished third ahead of Lady Admiral.

N. Ravinder Singh trained Turf Legend (Sedgefield-Red Fairy) that was winless from 16 starts came good to win the lower division. Turf Legend raced second last among the nine runners till the last 400 metres and started to move up from the outside. Heaven Can Wait grabbed the lead quickly on top of the straight and was going for it when Turf Legend raised a fluent gallop to finally get to the winning post. Raja Hindustani and Good Strike finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Deshmukh and jockey Akshay Kumar scored their double through Vijay’s Harmony (High Chaparel-Therry Girl) in the Kuntala Plate. The gelding raced in close attendance behind the leader Zensational right from the start and once on the straight took the gap along the rails and rushed to grab the lead. Kohinoor Legend started to challenge from the outside but Vijay’s Harmony kicked on gamely carrying the top weight of 62 kilograms.
