Trainer P Shroff leading Cambridge (A Sandesh up), winner of The Dashmesh Stud A C Ardeshir Trophy (Gr.3)

Pesi Shroff trained Cambridge (Burden of Proof – Chimerique, Kunigal Stud) produced another superlative display to gallop to his fifth consecutive win and his eighth success overall from ten outings while claiming the Dashmesh Stud AC Ardeshir Trophy (Gr3). Cambridge scored a clinical victory staying well behind the front-runners and then progressing well around the turn to make a sustained bid in the homestretch to keep his winning streak going.

Captain Courage led them into the straight with B Fifty Two in close attendance, New England move up from the outside and Cambridge deftly moving between horses to be prominent in the final 300 meters. Once Cambridge took charge, he looked dominant as he sailed ahead galloping at a good clip. New England had all the chances but could not match Cambridge. Caprisca may have been hampered for clear run and had to switch lanes at a crucial juncture. He was the fastest of the lot in the final 100 meters and finished just a length behind Cambridge, pegging back New England for the runner-up berth. Cambridge stood out yet again and looks good enough to add to his impressive tally. Caprisca was gallant in defeat and is likely to score sooner than later. New England could have done better; however, he may have felt the exertion of his trip down south.

Grand Accord (Dream Ahead – Glebe Queen, Hazara Stud) created a flutter when he turned on the heat in the dying moments of the race to spoil the party for favourite Brainstorm.

Brainstorm galloped into the lead and raced further ahead on straightening up for home. He skipped away from Glorious Eyes and build a handy lead. Turning Point, Forest Fairy and Texas Gold were hard at work trying to catch up, while Grand Accord slipped in through the inner rails and quickened just at the right time. Brainstorm was still ahead when Grand Accord got the measure of the rest and made a forward surge moving closer to Brainstorm. While both galloped at high speed, Grand Accord found that bit extra as he closed in for the kill and nailed Brainstorm in the nick of time to win the Sardar HS Brar Memorial Trophy in a thrilling finish. The 12/1 shot is trained by Karthik and was ridden brilliantly by jockey A Imran Khan. Brainstorm was a touch unfortunate to go down on the last stride but will live to fight another day.

First Timer Royal Crystal (Western Aristocrat – Sparkling Crystal, Highgrove Stud) was perhaps the most impressive winner of the day.  The Hosidar Daji ward settled nicely in third as Gods Plan and Tommaso matched stride in the early stages.
Once into the straight, Tommaso sped past his companion and just then Royal Crystal arrived with a big gallop. Jockey Neeraj Rawal had to only urge him a bit and hand the colt a crack or two and Royal Crystal got going. He simply shot ahead bouncing away to score a facile victory giving the rest no sniffing chance. He stretched out nicely to score by huge margin clearly outpacing the rest. Dandi March improved to take the runner up berth, while Astounding Bay did well to place considering he lost a couple of lengths at the start.

Imtiaz Sait trained Gloriosus (China Visit – Glorieuse, Usha Stud) provided jockey Robbie Dawney his first win on the Indian Turf. The Irishman had it fairly easy as he settled Gloriosus in the third spot behind Othello and Bold March all the way until into the straight. While Othello faded away even before the final turn, Bold March was working hard to stay alive. Gloriosus cruised past the enw leader and then picked up speed to run away from the field. Gloriosus looked the winner long way from home as he stretched out majestically to score by a healthy margin clocking just split-seconds over the two-minute mark, which is a decent timing. Lucky Luciano edged out Star Bright for the minor placing.

My Precious (Excellent Art – Evatina, Poonawalla Stud) scored her maiden win on her 15th start beating hot favourite Kingsman in a close finish. My Precious was off to a good start and led them into the straight. Adonijha who right behind, found little to pursue his case and had to settle for the minor placing. Kingsman made progress to set about in chase of the leader. He picked up momentum in the final furlong, but had a lot left to do, with not much ground for cover. Apprentice Vishal Bunde was focussed to the task and pushed out My Precious vigorously towards the fast approaching winning post. Kingsman picked up good speed in the final stages and bridged the gap at a good rate, but just failed to collar My Precious, falling short by a neck. My Precious put in a determined and stubborn effort to score a much needed victory.

Hormuz Antia trained Romantic Warrior (China Visit – Romantic Liaison, Usha Stud) came alive in the final furlong to put in a spirited bid to win in an exciting manner. Speedo was just in front entering the straight with Locarno waiting to pounce on him. Locarno pushed ahead with less than two furlongs to go and surged into the lead. Romantic Warrior, who was in the third spot, started to accelerate and looked good when he started to close in on Locarno. Philadelphia also was covering ground briskly and Cezzane began a revival, racing in from the rear to be noticed. Romantic Warrior snatch the lead from Locarno a few strides from the winning post and stayed ahead to thwart the late attempt by Philadelphia to win by a length. Locarno ended third while Cezanne did well to cover ground and finish in the frame.

Bourbon Princess (West Virginia – Bourbon Queen, Nakul Stud) secured her maiden success the hard way as she had to fight all the way to return victorious. The fight began early in the long Mumbai straight with Alegria and Faberge tagging along with Bourbon Princess. She is a Spy started to draw closer in the final furlong. It was a touch and go affair until the last few strides as She is a Spy was speeding towards the winning post at a good rate. Jockey Neeraj Rawal played his part well and that did the trick as the Sunderji trained filly held on to win by a neck with Faberge finishing just half a length behind to seal the place money.

Subhag Singh trained Dusky Siren (Oath – She's Hip, Pratap Stud) provided a fitting climax to the day carving out an exciting victory in another close finish in the hands of jockey TS Jodha. Majestical looked good coming into the straight and as soon as he hit the front, he accelerated nicely to surge ahead. Dusky Siren, who was closer to the rear end until the turn, made quick progress in the straight to go about her business effectively. She soon caught up with Majestical and even headed him, but Majestical wasn't one to give in easily. He fought Dusky Siren stride for stride all the way to the wire where Dusky Siren just had her nose in front to win by a short-head. Andalucia improved well in the straight although she finished a faraway third.

For the professionals, trainer Karthik Ganapathy saddled a double, while jockey Neeraj Rawal scored a double as well.
