Adhiraj Jodha trained Vulcan (Sedgefield – Shining Force, Jai Govind Stud) strode out majestically right from the start to win the Mysore Race Club Trophy with a measure of comfort. Taking off at a steady pace, Vulcan set his own pace and led the field of four all the way. Square Moon chased the winner all the while until Frivolous tried to get past once in the straight. Raees too made a feeble bid, but it was clear that the weight and his layoff had taken the toll. While Vulcan galloped freely in the homestretch, the rest just couldn’t match up and caved in tamely. Square Moon finished second with Frivolous alongside and Raees ending last of four. 

Lesrel (Mayson – Tarkamara, Nanoli Stud) trained by Vishal Gaikwad, turned in a fluent performance and won a lot easier than expected. He was off quickly and settled down nicely to lead the bunch all the way into the straight.

Once inside the final two furlongs, jockey Sandesh spurted away with Lesrel, going hands and heels without extending the gelding, yet won drawing away by a whopping seven lengths plus. He won easing up and the fight was on for the minor placing only with Lord Commander holding on from Sharareh and Dandi March. 

Moriseiki (Sedgefield – Turk’s Friend Jai Govind Stud) saddled by Adhiraj Jodha, showed a clean pair of heels to score an impressive maiden victory in the day’s opening race. Jockey Imran Khan improved positions to be close with the front running Golden Steal and Black Cherry with Turaco Elation and Itacha not too far away. 
 
Elation made hurried on to be in striking position and the turn, but Moriseiki set off, rocketing away from Elation in a trice. Jockey Imran Khan used the whip a few times more than necessary as Moriseiki never looked in any danger at any stage in the homestretch. He won by over four lengths, with Elation following him home. Itacha ran on to take the third slot in the frame.  
 
Trainer Pesi Shroff’s ward Nekhbet (Kingda Ka – Nawazish, Nanoli Stud) showed a lot of character and rose through from the last position at the turn to arrive with a flying finish and score her maiden win. Nekhbet tailed the field after a tardy start and jockey Akshay Kumar played the waiting game without hurrying the filly.  Celini too was not the quickest at the start and was stuck along the rails until the final turn. 

Out in front, Despacito led them into the straight with Sir Ramon looming large on the outside. Just as these two were fighting it out, Cellini found his way through to join the fight. There was rough stuff between the three in front with Athulya poking through. Nekhbet picked up speed on the wide outside and zipped past them all to score an aggressive victory. Considering the shorter Pune straight, Nekhbet did extremely well to win sparing more than a length at the wire. Athulya headed an unlucky Cellini for the runner up berth. 

Philadelphia (Varenar – Oh So Romantic, Equus Stud) created a flutter and provided the highest returns for the day. The Dallas Todywalla trainee took charge early in the straight and shot ahead at a good clip to sail away and score comfortably. Hells Bells chased the winner without hope and ended a tame second. Flying Dragon fought off Aurora Australis for the place money. 

Narendra Lagad trained Brave (Varenar – Mandara, Equus Stud) had it easy too in the last race. Apprentice jockey Kavraj Singh took off once they entered the homestretch and Brave put in his best gallop yet to draw away from the rest. Maestro was all out in chase but just could make no impact on Brave. Grand Architect improved towards the end to pip Maestro for the second spot.

Trainer Adhiraj Jodha was the lone pro to saddle a double.
