BETWAY LIKELY TO SPONSOR MYSORE DERBY

With a substantial increase in stakes and most classic hopefuls from Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad confirming their participation, the main Mysore season is certain to generate maximum interest among the railbirds at this centre. The new managing committee of the Mysore Race Club (MRC) led by chairman Y B Ganesh in its effort to scale a new high have spared no effort to provide the best facilities and the professionals satisfied with the track and the stable facilities on offer have promised to race their best horses in the effort to provide a new dimension to the sport at this centre.

Chairman of the club, Y B Ganesh disclosed that the committee has roped in sponsors for most of the major events and betway is likely to sponsor the blue riband of the season, the Mysore Derby.“After sponsoring the Bangalore summer Derby, betway are keen to promote the sport at this centre and soon we will finalise the Derby sponsorship,” said Ganesh pointing out that the Mysore Derby will attract the cream.

Apart from the 450 horses at this campus more than 50 horses from Bengaluru will be seen in action all through the competitive two-month season starting on Thursday, August 25, and taking into account that the track is in ship-shape condition, the professionals and the horses under their care are ready to gallop to fame. A couple of punters pointed out that the club needs to add more tote betting counters to facilitate the small bettors. “The attendance during the main season is more than 4000 and the committee understands that they cannot afford to miss out on the betting revenues. A couple of new tote windows will be in operation from the first day and the committee is always willing to facilitate the punters who are the chief patrons of the game, said Ganesh.

“With the combined all-India tote likely to start at the end of the month, we understand that collections on tote will be high and we are ready to handle the expected big rush,” said Ganesh.

A couple of leading trainers from Bengaluru revealed that all the major events this season at Mysuru will be very competitive taking into account that the entries for the three classics and the Maharaja's Cup is high. "I have always enjoyed Mysore and I will continue to saddle the best horses under my care this season, said Ganapathy pointing out that the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Memorial Million scheduled to held on  the second day, Friday, August  26 will attract the cream.
