Mr.A Raghava Reddy & trainer M.Sathyanarayana leading Windsor Manor (Imran Chisty Up), winner of The Pratap Stud Darley Arabian Million (Grade III)

Windsor Manor (Placerville-Amber Windsor) lifted the richly endowed Darley Arabian Million (Grade III), now sponsored by the Pratap Stud Farm. Windsor Manor is bred in purple, the dam Amber Windsor being a multi-classic winner and the sire Placerville needing no formal introduction. The filly’s bloodline suggests that she is bred to stay and should definitely be seen in action in the classic races when her turn comes. Windsor Manor added over a million rupees in prize money to her kitty along with the coveted trophy with this victory.

Surya Lakshmi, who was the only other filly among the seven runners in the race, set out on a start-to-finish mission over the six-furlong trip. Surya Lakshmi was joined by Windsor Manor as they rounded the final turn and Imran Chisty rode the latter to surge ahead. Windsor Manor started to drift out of the straight course but managed to stay a clear four lengths in front of Zamorin, who just managed to get the better of Surya Lakshmi to take the runner-up slot. Imran Chisty rode his only other ride of the day, Original Gladiator (Royal Gladiator-Original), to a comfortable win, in the higher division of The 1 EME Centre Rolling Trophy. After settling behind Ruffiano till the last 500 metres of the race, Original Gladiator surged ahead with ease and won with a measure of comfort.

The course favourite, Malabar Prince, travelled late from the rear to take the second spot, ahead of Tell Me a Tale, while Fleet Commander finished fourth. Trainer Sathyanarayana, who trains Original Gladiator, completed a treble, having led in the public fancy Jingles (Senure-Karinae), in The Common Land Plate. Jockey S. Shoban Babu, who partnered the winner, had to ride out hard to get past India One in the last 150 metres. Cannon Vision moved in late to get the better of the long-time leader Pygmalion and finish third. K.S.V. Prasad Raju’s Kohinoor Wish (Gaswar-Blue Sonata) won The T. Chandrasekhar Reddy Memorial Cup as expected but the win was not that impressive to boost the gelding’s graph. Sent into the race as an unbeatable one, at cramped odds, Kohinoor Wish raced in around fifth position on entering the straight, made a quick move to take charge around 250 metres but could not draw away from the rest.

The eleven-year-old Coral Gables and Fly By Wire came charging towards Kohinoor Wish and cut down the winner’s margin to just a length at the finish. Anupam Sharma’s Jabel Queen (Epicentre-Desert Storm), who had come back lame in her previous essay, returned to good shape to claim the lower division of The 1 EME Centre Rolling Trophy. Onera Onera Onera was withdrawn before the race after he refused to get stalled and the field was reduced to ten. Jabel Queen moved well to take over the running at the top of the straight and apprentice P. Venkat rode her out to stay clear of Dream Deal and the late-finishing Copertina. Rosemead ended up fourth after being in second for a long time on the straight.

Jockey P.S. Chouhan had his share of two winners, booting home the three-year-old Vijayshaurya (Trade Fair-Troppa Freska) and Steel Breaker (Puerto Madero-Romantic Adventure) to victory in their respective races. Vijayshaurya held the fence early on, in the race, entered the straight on a tight rein and sped away effortlessly inside the final furlong of The Step Aside Plate. Audacious, Star Striker and Front Line filled the frame in that order. Chouhan rode S. Habeebullah-trained Steel Breaker to a pillar to post victory in the lower division of The next Move Plate, the concluding race of the day. Kohinoor Glory was in futile chase throughout and finally finished third behind Sun Bird, who was finishing on towards the closing stages.

The bottom weighted Kohinoor Supreme (Greensmith-Oh So Quick) gave trainer M.R. Chouhan a much-needed win, in the higher division. On a start-to-finish mission, Kohinoor Supreme registered a runaway victory. Cicilia finished on second ahead of Esperanza. Heart N Soul (Epicentre-Chepstow) beat Lambourn by a ‘neck’, in The Pocharam Cup, the opening race of the afternoon and got the win validated in the steward’s room after the rider of Lambourn lodged an unsuccessful objection for taking his ground at 450 metres. Juliet ran a mighty race, staying in front till the last 100 metres over the 2,400 metres trip and finishing third.
