Racing Incidents
ONE MAN ARMY (Salim Khan) fly jumped out of the gates, in the process dislodging the rider who escaped unhurt. An objection was lodged by Jockey D Singh, the rider of BODY AND SOUL, placed 2nd by the Judge against Jockey Md. Islam, the rider of HELEGONIA, placed 1st by the Judge on the grounds of coming in at about the 250 metres, cutting across wherein he had to stop riding, check his mount, pull out after which his mount came back with a second run and this cost him the race. Having considered the evidence tendered by Jockeys D Singh and Md. Islam, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards, viewing the replay of the race on the CCTV and acting on their own observations of the race, the Stewards resolved to over-rule the objection, the Judge’s placings remaining unaltered. Jockey Md. Islam, the rider of HELEGONIA, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/- for failing to maintain a straight course at about the 150 metres causing interference to BODY AND SOUL (D Singh).
