Tr. J J Stephens and Jockey I Khan were questioned regarding the running and riding of SIMPLY PERFECT. The trainer stated that he had instructed the jockey to position his mount in either the 4th or 5th position, cautioned him not to go wide while rounding the bend and thereafter to do his best in the straight. He was of the opinion that the jockey should have alerted his mount to its task on immediately entering the straight rather than waiting till much later. On questioning, the jockey corroborated the trainer’s instructions and informed that his mount needed some time to balance itself and only after that did he ride his mount to complete advantage. The Stipendiary Stewards were not satisfied with the explanation tendered by the jockey and decided to fine him a sum of Rs. 2,000/-for failing to infuse adequate vigour to his riding between the final 400 and 100 metres of the race. |
