Tote Favourite: MARTINIQUE
| ALPHA BABY (M Mark) which was being led to the start arrived late thereby considerably delaying the start of the race. Tr. D R Byramji was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for this lapse and advised to get his charge adequately schooled before next accepting with it.
b g AWESOME INDIAN (S Rabbani) was fractious in its stall, broke open the front gates and in the process sustained severe cut injuries on its right fore. Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders. The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter. Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
MARTINIQUE (N S Parmar) was fractious while being stalled.
IMPRESSIVE WISH (Salim Khan) was slow to begin.
ROCKET BALL (Jugnu Gurung) swerved ‘outwards’ immediately after the start and trailed the field thereafter. In view of its performance Tr. Vijay Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race. The Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with particular reference to the riding of Jockey N S Parmar on b f MARTINIQUE placed 2nd by the Judge. After due enquiry the Stewards were satisfied that the placings as announced by the Judge would remain unaltered, as such the ‘ALL CLEAR’ signal was given. However, the Stewards continued with the enquiry into the riding of Jockey N S Parmar in that on entering the straight and when clear of the field he failed to alert his mount in time to its task and for reasons best known to him repeatedly looked behind. At the conclusion of the enquiry the jockey pleaded guilty to riding an over confident race and therefore was charged under Rule 161(ii) (injudicious riding). When deciding on the penalty to be imposed on the rider, the Stewards taking into consideration the points of mitigation and his record, decided to suspend him from riding in races from 6th September to 14th September, 2011 (both days inclusive). The jockey was informed of his right to appeal.
