Jockey  Md. Islam when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount b g STAR EMPIRE, stated that he was instructed to position his mount 4/5^th during the early stages of the race, however, he was unable to follow the trainer’s instructions as some distance after the start the field closed in on him.  On entering the straight he did his best but the gelding failed to respond adequately.   Mr. Patrick Quinn, the trainer of the gelding when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his charge stated that he had instructed the jockey to be positioned 4/5^th in the early stages of the race and thereafter to do his best.  He further stated that he was satisfied with the running of his charge.  When queried as to why there was a difference in the running pattern of his charge as compared to its previous run where it was observed to be running behind the early leader, he stated that as his charge was now running with the highest class of horses, he was of the opinion that placing the gelding further back in the field during the early stages of the race would be advantegous and added that he would continue to give similar instructions in its future runnings.  Their explanations were noted.

The Veterinary Officer reported that TWO IN ONE returned lame on right fore.  Tr. Javed Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Sr. Veterinary Officer.
