On the morning of Saturday, 5^th October, 2013, ch g STORMY WIND, a declared starter in the above race, was examined by the Sr. Veterinary Officer and found to be lame on right fore.  Under the circumstances the filly was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.  Tr. Patrick Quinn was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Sr. Veterinary Officer.  Further, an enquiry has been opened into the withdrawal of the gelding from the race.

AMIKA (Mohit Singh) was slow to begin losing approximately three lengths at the start.  Tr. C Gleich was advised to take appropriate remedial measures before accepting with his charge again.

Some distance after the start SILVER SILVER (M F Ali Khan, drawn 9) was inconvenienced when MOON STAR (Asghar, drawn 12) came ‘in’ sharply.  Jockey Asghar was shown the CCTV replay of the race and severely reprimanded for shifting ‘in’ when not adequately clear of the other runner.  He was further informed that on repetition he would be dealt with appropriately.

When afforded an opportunity to explain the running of her charge b g ICONIC, trainer Ms. Arti Doctor stated that she had instructed the rider to take her charge on a start to finish mission, however, should he find himself unable to do so he was to place the gelding in 2^nd/3^rd or 4^th position.  She further added that while being disappointed with the positioning of her charge in the early and middle stages of the race, she was delighted with the finishing effort made by the gelding in the final 400 metres of the race.  App Abhijeet Sawant corroborated the trainer’s instructions and stated that soon after the start his mount was inclined to lean ‘inwards’ and in trying to correct his mount he lost his position.  The Stipendiary Stewards while noting their explanations informed Tr. Ms. Arti Doctor to ensure that her charges are ridden in a manner that leaves no room for query.
