Racing Incidents

EVESHAM (C Alford) was fractious while being stalled.

TREASURE ISLAND (Kishore Kadam) and WELL DONE (Shezad Khan) were fractious in their respective stalls.

Immediately after the running of the race an enquiry was held with particular reference into the incident of b c EVESHAM (C Alford) running wide around the bend and thereafter being brought to a stop by its rider before passing the winning post.  At the conclusion of the enquiry it was established that the ‘bit’ had run through the mouth of the colt approaching the 600 metres when the rider was making every effort to control the animal which was running erratically and thereafter the rider brought the colt to a halt as he had no control over his mount. The Stipendiary Stewards ordered the “All Clear” signal to be hoisted.   Mr. Vijay Singh, the trainer of the colt, was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for presenting his charge to race when not adequately schooled thereby putting at risk the safety of the jockeys and the welfare of the horses participating in the race.  He was further informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.
