Jockey Mohit Singh, the rider of THE GREAT HANNIBLE, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount stated that he was instructed to place his mount in 3rd/4th position and to do his best thereafter. However, on jumping out of the gates he found the pace of the race very fast and as he was carrying a top weight of 61.5 kg he decided not to put pressure on the colt by repeatedly urging it in the early stages of the race. Tr. Jasbir Singh when questioned corroborated the Jockeys statemen t regarding his instructions. The Stipendiary Stewards after viewing the CCTV replay of the race and not being satisfied with the explanations tendered by the jockey decided to fine him a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for failing to make adequate effort to comply with the trainer’s riding instructions when he had every opportunity to do so.

The Veterinary Officer reported that ARCHIPPOS and DO YOUR BEST returned lame on their respective left fores. Trs. Manvendra Singh and Vikash Jaiswal were informed not to accept with their charges until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
